A Total Joke (Read 24962 times)

I've already done a posting on the Dartford Bridge which is like the parting of the Red Sea with rocks and a ravine under it, but the whole of the Thames is all lumps and bumps with different levels and bits of terrain poking through.

So far I'm not impressed. FR is shot to pieces because of the 'level of detail' - but the level of detail I'm seeing in an area that's important to me is total rubbish.

Uncle Bill lives in that "neck of the woods", so he and his trusty team of scenery designers spent more time there getting the scenery right in both FS 2004 and FSX....Wink...!

Sorry guys, I don't find this very amusing.

I have installed the program twice on separate disks and clearly all of the faults are in the software. The mesh covering London is totally FUBAR and the result is an eyesore and a total mess for the whole of the length of the Thames that I have flown, into the city from the Dartford Bridge.

There is no way that MS could not have known about it if they have done even an iota of testing, or released the program to beta and/or alpha testers in the UK and as a Briton I am actually deeply offended and insulted to think that MS could release this program in the UK with our capital city in such an appalling state. Had I know I certainly would not have purchased the program. Just imagine how you American guys would feel if New York or Washington was the kind of mess in the sim that London is. There would be an almighty uproar.

Look rollerball, most capitals dont look a lot like there real life counter-parts, if microsoft needed to recreate it good then it would take them years to do it or spend millions of dollars more, and i doubt its worth such a thing, since a costum scenery would strive past it in months. just look at what the cloud 9 team is doing.

Therefore in my opponion you hardly have the right to complain, you already got a rather professional package for a little more then a standard software price. A good bang for the buck in my oppnion.

Where are you from pepper_whatsyourname? Are you British? I doubt it.

What total cobblers. Have you bothered (a) to see what a mess it is and (b) compared it against FS2004.

You obviously don't remember that MS thought quite rightly that London was of such importance in FS2004 that they redid almost every London bridge in the 9.1 update.

Like most non-Americans I DON'T spend all my time simming in the US. I do it in the UK and quite a bit in and around London.

Does a New Yorker expect to see (and pay for) ravines and rapids in the East River? Of course not. And neither do I in the Thames.

Hey, remember in FS2002 when MS failed to put the London Eye in the game and put the Millenium Dome somewhere where it really isn't in real life? Grin

Yeah I do Woody, but this is worse than that I think. At least they were what you could call honest mistakes.

But the Thames and the parts of the city that border it look an awful mess in this because the mesh is faulty. They must have known before release in the UK and they should at least have told us. I certainly wouldn't have bought it if I'd known. How do we know what other parts of the UK are messed up if such an important and obviously visible area is in such a state?

Unfortunately I can't put any pics up just yet because I've removed FSX from my main HD that has got FS2004 etc and all my other utils on it (FSX FR unflyable) and installed it on a dedicated HD with a clean, minimal XP install on it in an attempt to get better FR and there are no other progs on that for now at least.

You are taking this way too seriously Wink  Just chill out, take Fozz's advice, and fly around California until some one makes some mesh.

I didn't buy the prog to fly around California. Does that answer your question?

It may come as a total surpise to Americans that Germans like to fly around Germany, Australians around Australia and Outer Mongolians around Outer Mongolia.

The prog is promoted and sold on the basis that they can do that and have an 'as real as it gets' experience.

I don't want third party mesh. The mesh that comes with the program that I've bought is compatible with it.

yeah, id suggest sending a complaint in so that they may be able to redo it for the patch, because people here have been trying to help by advising to fly elsewhere until good mesh does come out, and it isnt really helping, and i can understand your unhappiness about it, but really, microsoft should be told then, instead of just us
