Hello all...Grin...!

Has anyone got a simple tip to turn the FSX scenery tile size, objects details, tree types, object/ground textures, etc, back into the same format and size as they are used in FS 2004, so that we can at least experience the same game speed and visual effects (FPS/Smoothness) as we do in FS 2004, until the time arrives when we can re-build our computer systems to cope with a full-blown FSX...?

...an intermediate step on the way to Paradise... Kiss...?

A simple list of alterations in the .cfg File, all available in one comprehensive Thread.... Wink...?

Cheers all...!

Not to be a smart arse, but, why not just run FS2004 until then?

...because there are areas in FSX where the overall scenery mesh is slightly more accurate than in FS 2004.

Rivers, lakes, and streams appear in FSX where they are missing in FS 2004 (with reference to the relief maps of the areas I regularly visit)...Wink...!

FS 2004 is excellent for speed. FSX is excellent for scenery mesh accuracy.

Yes Fozz there is check out the post here under texture replacement.

http://www.fox-fam.com/wordpress/?page_id=41

There is a batch file you can run to shrink the file size of your textures. Also thought there was already a set of replacements at AVSIM??

Thanks, Pol, for the link...

It leads to an interesting discussion between our friends over at the Avsim Forum...>>>

http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=121&topic_id=354861&mesg...

Some very interesting suggestions there.

It looks as though a number of folks are working on ideas to modify the overall program to ease the load on our lower-end computer systems, possible involving add-on modifications to the existing "code?".
Perhaps it's time to wait a while and see what the clever lads out there come up with... they reckon it's "early days yet" for FSX... Wink...!

In the meantime all we can do is try out a few simple tweaks published here and there...Wink..!

Cheers all...!

I think patience is defiantly the key here Wink

I remember first installing 2004 and the months of tweaks to get it working on my pc. Then building a new pc and then more months of tweaks. Actually after a couple of years I was still tweaking and improving the sim, that is one thing I love about the MS Flight Sim you can do so much more than just fly in it!

And I expected this one to be no different, but more of a tweakers dream (nightmare) since its first announcement  Grin
