Now that's the rub, isn't it!  FSX was quite deliberately designed to be "freely available" because EVERY unregistered copy is simply a 30 minute, time-limited DEMO...

You can actually LOAN your store-bought DVDs to a friend, but without his/her OWN Product Activation Key, it cannot be registered...

Each legal owner's Product Activation Key is limited to only two concurrent activations, allowing the owner to install FSX on two of his own systems (which is good news for WidevieW users!).  During activation, the Product Activation Key is machine bound with a hash code to that specific machine.

ok, im trying to figure out what you mean by all this, like once activated, the key is on that computer forever, and thats why you can reinstall it several times without reactivating, but you said there is a second activation, so if you were to activate it on two computers, is it that the two cannot both play at the same time then, or how does that work?

What he means is it can be installed and registered only twice, whether it be 1 or more IPs it probably doesnt matter.

It's the same way that Windows XP is activated. When you activate it a snapshot of your hardware configuration is taken and that is used to generate a code which is sent to MS. From there as long as your hardware is kept as it is you can reinstall as many times as you want but only on that machine. If you make any major changes to your hardware then you will need to reactivate it. This is allowed two times and from then on you will need to call MS Customer Service and have your activation reset. Generally MS will do this without question but if you end up calling them every week or so then they might figure you are giving or selling copies and refuse to reactivate you.
