There's a simple answer to that. I don't watch TV. Tongue

I like how they didnt have a pilot or an aviation specialist, or anyone from the aviation industry. Anyway its this kind of reporting that pisses me off for two reasons. 1, they dont really know what they are talking about and they dont know the US airspace and control system well enough to know whats going on and why planes are routed where they are routed. And 2, If the terrorists hadnt thought of all those things before, now they know! Thank you american news for telling all of our enemies how to hit us!

Until they get some pilots on there I'm going to laugh at them because they dont get it! But we all know the game, they call up potential guests and "screen" them. They pick the ones who will take the position they want them to take and leave the others home. "Your a pilot, will you come on and say the US airspace system is a mess? And that all of aviation, especially general aviation is a dangerous mess?" "No, because thats not true." "Well you arent going to be a guest then."

EDIT: Oh and is it just me or will a nuke totally throw off the weight and balance of a cessna?

No need to worry about that. They already know all the angles & a few more you could never imagine. We taught them how to do it in the first place. We did a good job.

Forget the nukes and the Cessna. Look at the chaos a few suicide bombers caused in London just over a year ago. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2005/07/08/nbomb08.xml

Exactly.  It is rather narrow to say that they are giving terrorists the ideas to use small planes, you guys have got to give them more credit than that-they've been sitting in caves and scheming for more than a DECADE.  I think it's come up once or twice Roll Eyes

True, but we dont need to announce to the whole world that we are vulnerable in specific places. A boxer isnt going to say the week before a fight, "Well I have this injury right here in this spot, I sure would have a lot of trouble blocking it. It would cause me great pane if anyone were to punch it. No one has punched it recently and I sure hope I can block it when I fight my next opponent." It's dumb. I dont think terrorists are thinking about planes anymore anyway. We lock down the airports they just go back to trucks or some other nonsense.

I think the whole world has become rather scared for something, that actualy is a smaller risk then a flooding, tsunami, or a earthquake, all of wich are a much bigger threat since 2/3 of the earths population lives in a danger zone.

And really, 9/11 were only 2000/3000 people if i recall right, now imagine a tsunami hitting new-york or los angeles. Another example could be New Orleans, wich has been greatly reduced after the hurricane.

And really, you cant stop terrorist, safety is an illusion concerning this subject. If you really think you can stop terrorists then i think one should check his mind for sanity.

Giving up personal freedom in the name of security from terrorism means the terrorists have already won.

And they have.

And they will continue to win.

The best we can do is fight against it in the voting booths by electing politicians who want to give back freedoms instead of take them away.

To be fair, one of those guys, the one saying that restricting airspace would be pointless is actually making a bit of sense. After all, security on the ground at airports is the best way to tackle that form of threat and once in the air no terrorist is going to give a rats anus about restricted air space.

That depends on your security and intelligence.

ANGER!

This is not a good day.  First I learn DX10 wont be out for another year, and now you reopen this one.

First off there are some people who just have a bug up their rear for SEL piston aircraft.  I don't know if they are jelous, actually annoyed, or just have too much time on their hands that they want to make someones day bad; but they are out there, and this newscast was tageting their hatred for general aviation.

Second, no intelligent terrorist would use a small plane to blow up a building.  Even the fastest of GA aircraft don't build up enough momentum (even in a dive) to cause  signifigant damage to much of anything signifigant.

I'm sure now that the media will attack the VLJ market saying they are a threat to society.  Pffh, you have a better chance of being eaten by a shark-in Kansas-than you do of being killed by a GA terrorist attack.

If you want to protect society, then get rid of the AMERICAN radicalist groups.  You would be surprised at who classifies as a terrorist.

Take Fred Phelps for example.  This squrril is one nut shy of going postal on anything remotely considered "liberal interests"

ps, if you dont know who he is, just look him up.  He does things that I would rather not mention here.

Exactly. I wasn't going to say it but you brought it up.

One person in a position of power in the states-just one-can do far, far more damage than all of the islamic extremists combined.
