DVD question (Read 625 times)

Hello,

I am tempted to order FSX, although I once said I wouldn't do it. Now I have a small question. I read on the website of the shop where I want to buy FSX (deluxe version) that the one of the minimum requirements is a 32X DVD player. Now I have an old, yet very well working, LiteOn LDW401S DVD-RW which is 4X/4X/12X. Will FSX work or do I also need to buy a new DVD player/recorder?

I recall a discussion some where else, can't think where  Wink

But If anyone knows of a manufactureer that makes a 32X DVD I'd be amazed..

I think this is a typo in the web site It works fine on my pioneer A8 thingy Smiley

It only ships on DVD..

good luck.

You want dvd woes?

My dvd drive/driver/whatever in my main gaming computer will recognize and start installing off dvd-disc 1.  When it comes time to "insert disc 2", it doesn't get recognized, at all.  IT will be recognized by any other dvd drive in the other computers I have at home, not just THE one.  Of course, once that happens, it won't even recognize disc 1 either....

I am now resorting to installing FS-X over the wireless network, using the dvd drive in my wife's computer..  (which will run FS-X at a minimal setting because we bought it to be a business, not graphics/gaming computer).

" . . . new DVD player/recorder?"
Negative
A Combo drive will read DVDs
They cost about twenty bucks
P.S. I have both a DVD Burner USB2 and an installed Combo Drive -- both work well.
I installed FSX from the former.

You presume that I even know - or would dare - do that by myself!

I am supremely dangerous.  I once ended up reformatting a Hard Drive because all the laser jet driver updates wouldn't work,et.c etc., and after all that, the printer STILL wouldn't work .... until my wife suggested to change the toner.  Swap out dvds just like that?  That's MAJOR surgery!  <shudder>

Co-located vertices are easier to deal with..  Smiley
