Is it just me or soemthing is wrong....

Standard Edition: 18 Aircraft
Deluxe Edition: 24 Aircraft

However, On the flash FSX page showcasing the fleet,

it says "21 new and legacy aircraft to carry your flight of fancy"
but
The scrolling list of aicraft only presents 20.

I am beginning to wonder if the contents are finalised or not.

Some of us here don't even worry about the number of aircraft because we know for certain that the number of addons will hit the roof [if there's any roof left since FS9] over time.

You really wonder about the defaults?

Really now, it'd be better if you wondered about the portability of old GOOD add-on from FS9 than the poor made defaults.

Remember that the defaults have to function as AI as well, what kind of detail can they ever reach with this handicap.

I don't know about you, but from what I've seen, a lot of the default craft (especially the Goose, Beaver, and CRJ) are utterly fantastic, and really raised the bar when it comes to default craft. The Beaver's VC actually looks better than its payware equivalent. This is just my opinion though, I'm in no way trying to speak for everyone.

Personally, I think the default A/C get far too much flak. Sure, a few of them have very glaring flaws, but a good deal of them (most notably the "classic" planes in FS9) look rather nice. Though this is, again, just my opinion.

No they don't!  The AI versions are very much different than the "flyable" versions.  For one thing, the "interior" (VC) parts of the model are left out, and more LODs (Level of Detail) options are included in the "exterior" model.

The other point about default aircraft is that *most of the time* they're really there to be used by flighsim modellers to use their *air and *.cfg files as templates...

<snork>

(But granted, they're neat to run around in every once in a while)....

I wish all the available freeware addon aircrafts for FS9 were as "bad" as the FS9 default aircrafts  Roll Eyes
In reality, the fact is that compared to the default aircrafts, 99.99 % of the freeware aircrafts SUCK ! Only some rare exceptions do offer a nice model with nice textures, nice VC and clickable instruments.

Of course, there's still the payware addons...

But personnaly, I DO CARE about default aircrafts.

I rarely do addons. I have a very small HDD (only 40GB) and any addons will just bust it. In fact FSX will spell the next disaster (for my wallet).

Also, my experience also tells me that having too many addons will be messy after a while. I fly default most of the time.

the only way aces would be able to fit fighter planes in it are as scenery, ai, or as airshow material, like virtual dogfights...

Quite the nice compliment to those people that spend their time giving the community FREE planes. Really, what a nice person you are, thanking them in such a polite way.

You are free to kiss the tarmac where the default planes you so love pass, but have no right whatsoever to insult the work of others, if for said work you pay nothing.

And before you start, I said that the defaults were "poorly done". Didn't go around saying "this sucks" or "that sucks".

Mine was a point of view, yours was a slander.

May I remember you then that for the defaults planes you pay? Are they payware material, by your reckoning?

Yes, you pay for the defaults. The price paid is part of the price of the simulator itself. Or do you think M€$ puts them there as a gift?

Let me stress that I'm not trying to slander the defaults. I only say, and stay my ground, that they're poorly done. At the lower end of the freeware you so despise, quality-wise.

Mine remains a personal point of view, and doesn't mean one shouldn't use them. I myself use the defaults sometimes, sure I'm not allergic to them. They remain not great planes, though.

well as I remember, FS4 had one or two fighter along with a camel from WWI.

The fighter lost their place during the next versions, but the camel stayed there untill fs2002, so I see not what the problem is in having fighters in FS.

FS4 even had a scenery where you could do dogfights with other planes...

I think that it went the way of "political correctness" along with damage effects.

"Combat" possibilities in a civilian sim seems to really polarize people.....and decisions are about marketing to the largest possible audience.

So basically, it's up to the addon developers to create the best aircraft for FSX. I don't mind this at all as we addon developers are always just as skilled the ones who make the default planes for FSX. Grin

It's not me you should apologize to, but all the free working people you could have offended with your remark.

No one is going to force you to use a free plane. It's free. Free for you not to use too.

The virtual worlds inside our simulators is the last land where we're free to do what we want, let's leave it like that.

It was no sarcasm. It was just a critic that, as you rightly mentionned, was way too violent and impolite.

The planes that come with fsX are amazing! Even payware quality. I get smoother VC experiance in the default aircraft when compared to PMDG 737 while still looking better.
