I use Project ai for my traffic files and have noticed on several different flights that you will hear ATC tell a flight to climb to flight level whatever and than repeat it about every minute or so. It sounds like for some strange reason that the plane can not make it to the assigned altitude. It is diferent flights but I am not sure if it is different aircraft. I have not started to make a list of the flight number so I can look them up and perhaps edit them. Has any one else noticed this problem.
I some times turn AI off for a minuete or so and then turn it back on to reset every thing. I get tired of ATC constantly telling flight *** to climb to flight level ***.
I know if I can get the flight number of the culprit I can edit the altitude to a flight level that the plane should be able to reach.
I was just curoius  ???

If one is using FS9's RW/WX (Realworld Weather Every Fifteen Minutes) ATC gives the change altitude instructions to reflect the current change in atmospheric pressure.

Gary, you're probably right. I've got a pretty early PAI install and some of the FDEs are very bad indeed. I often use CTR-Q/Ctrl-W to scroll through my AI and I've seen a lot of the PAI stuff doing very weird things indeed. Like porpoising like crazy so they are either above or below the allocated height but hardly ever on it, flying totally nose up but being unable to climb and so on. Airbuses in particular seem especially bad.

I think they have modified a few FDEs (even in my setup I can see that there are different versions of similar model aircraft) so some of the problems may have been overcome.

But what I can never understand about AI is - why the heck do people waste their time trying to create 'new' FDEs for specific aicraft. AI is all about APPEARANCES and nothing more. So if a default FDE works you use it eg use the default 737 for airbuses. So long as they taxi, take off, fly and land that's all you want AI to do.

That's why there is a representative fleet of default aircraft - basically you just choose the FDE that fits your aircraft, you don't waste time making a new one. Life's too short  Wink

How right you are Roller Ball. The craziest thing I see is people wanting to fly planes designed for AI. Now that I just do not under stand  ???. But than to each his own. I have also noticed the ups and downs of AI aircraft. Who knows maybe they are dolphins are whales  Grin

Pressure changes do not effect aircraft above flight level 180
Or 18,ooo feet. So that has nothing to do with what I am talking about as every call I hear the AI is well above 18,000 feet.
I think I am going to start keeping a log of the culprits flight numbers and either delet the flight or edit it.
