For such a big release, it seems MS has gone silent.  I know before 2004 was released, it seemed liked there was so much hype.  MS rarely updates it screenshots, and other than the demo, it just seems like old news now.  Im not sure it its just me, but I dont have that anticipation that I did for 2004.  I couldnt wait to get my hands on it.  Maybe its because I have to wait for Vista and DX10, but for me something just feels different this time around.  Am I in a lull, or do you guys feel the same way?  Todd

I'm guessing it's because everyone already knows almost everything there is to know about FSX. From screenshots to articles and from video interviews and conferences to experiments with the Beta version by people in the forums like you and me.

I pretty much believe that this is the main reason why Microsoft hasn't been announcing much recently. All that's left to know now is how the final version will truely handle on what systems and what the final SDKs will truely provide.

Angry

I think that very sensibly MS got the message that they were over-hyping this release to the Nth degree.

I'll leave it there because I made my opinion pretty clear in postings at the time. What news, except for artificial, manufactured news, can there be about an upcoming software release. That's what it is - an upcoming software release. You know everthing there is about the flippin' software and you know when it's scheduled for release.

For goodness sake, what more is there to say - I just cannot understand postings like this  ???

Rollerball, all I was saying is that all we got for this version is hype.  I was implying that for 2004 that  the upgrades and improvements were discussed and I truly sensed that there were major improvements to the sim.  This version it just seemed like they hyped all the eye candy and such and glossed over that there were no real changes to the ATC, flight dynamics, and other than more weather stations, the weather as well.  I just thought  coming up to the release there might be more news about certain new features or some surprises that had been saved for the final release.  I guess thats not to be.  Sorry for upsetting you, it certainly wasnt the intention of the post.  Todd

Hey Todd - it doesn't upset me. Look, as a general rule people shouldn't go out of their way to offend anyone on these forums but if we can't all post our real opinions here, where can we.

I always say what I think (but sometimes I am persuaded to change my mind  Smiley ) and I expect everyone else to do the same. There (usually  Wink ) isn't anything personal - most threads are gone and forgotten in a few days anyway - but if we have different opinions about things and say so, people shouldn't be too concerned. I'm not.
