As they did with the XVI.

Off the top of my head, the USAAF used at least three marks of Spit, this one (the VIII), the earlier Mk V, and then later the PR Mk XI. You used Mosquitos too.

The RAF caused the Mustang! The USAAF didn't want it Shocked

There are two types of aeroplane, Spitfires and everything else that wishes it was a Spitfire!

Indeed. I think the technical way of putting it is that we wrote the specification! Grin

I think you may well find that this one is published as a pack with one or two other Mks. I don't know that for sure, but that's the impression I'm getting.
