This question was asked nearly six months ago (elsewhere) and was replied to by Mike Gilbert (tdragger) in one of his blog entries.

The short story is that they (ACES) looked at the hardware, evaluated what it might offer FS, and decided that at the present time it would be of little or no value whatsoever, and would require a lot of extra code just to obtain that tiny bit of gain.

Just for the above reasons it would make no sense to invest time and effort.  Never mind the miniscule number of people who would actually have the card to begin with!  Roll Eyes

In a nutshell, the market for PhysX cards isn't big enough for sims like FSX to fully exploit.

There was some talk earlier about Physixs being more integrated into the new high end graphics cards next year.

Whether it will be better than a standalone card remains to be seen.

Ummm actually according to what I've heard R600/ G80 all have Physics processors built into them.

btw theres no such thing as dual core Pentium 4, you have hyper threading which makes applications think it's dual core.

its true. ghost recon advance warfighter (GRAW) is the only game that is progammed to use one. however altho it imporves performance flying shrapnel and things still wnt hurt you. its just all for show.

so in short the Ageia Physics card is bloomin useless. the only game that mite take advantage of it apart from GRAW is crysis but tats DX10/DX9 and with DX10 it runs smoothly but u wud orobs need one if u were useing a DX9 card.

john..

p.s. they are pointless atm

Actually all the pictures of Crysis are in SLI 7900GTX's. Current hardware will run it just fine.

It will depend how scripted FSX is as to how useful the physics card will be.

Fully destroyable sceneries etc would benefit a lot from physics cards.  Wait a while until those games come out then get a physics card.  They will be cheaper and better.

Fully destroyable sceneries...  Hmmm...  WORMS 3D!

Its already done, though if u mean destroyable sceneries as in sand/dirt flying everywhere, getting into player's eyes, and bits pilling up and any unsuspended land pieces falling into place, then that would be a great use for it...
