Well, its that time again, when we are all anticipating the arrival of a new Sim and new hardware. Just wondering if anyone has any info or rumors when the first DX10 gpus will arrive. Ive searched google and the gpus manufactures sites but nothing that says anything about it. anyone have any idea? thanks in advance

P.S. something system builders are probably wondering too   Smiley

Almost everyone here will tell you that all DX10-based hardware will come out roughly at the same time as Windows Vista [which is next year] as Vista takes advantage of DX10.

I also wish I knew more about DX10 hardware, but i hav to wait like most.  Tho i am so tired of reading on nVidia's site:  "We are working closely with Microsoft to release DirectX 10 hardware as soon as possible"

I hate working closely, the most.  Dunno why.  Just sounds annoying...

There are rumoured cards by ATi and nVidia.  ATi supposedly has the R600 card that is built for direct x 10, and Nvidia the G80, which will probably be released with windows vista.

Personally I'd wait. The first games that will require DX10 will most likely be a video card generation after the R600/ G80. I'd wait till the R700 / G90 Wink

Think of it this way, you buy the first DX10 video card when not many games are fully designed for it. I wait a year, when the games do come out I pwn you with my new one.

According a post on another website by a prominent member of the ACES team, Microsoft just received the first engineering examples of DX10 boards in their office this week. Most of the ACES team are on holidays so we won't be hearing anything about them for a few months yet.
