Looks like clouds  ???

...&&It is better to remain silent and be considered a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.&&&&There were once four people named Everybody, Somebody, Nobody and Anybody. Somebody had to do a job, but Nobody wanted to do it. Nobody could see that Anybody could do it, and Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job. Nobody ended up doing it, and it so happened that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

Nope that exacly the milky way ,see among stars in a clear night away from cities, you can apresiate like this , one of two sides of the milky way one would be orion's arm and the other side is capricorn side the solar system is inserted as one of the millons stars what you see in the night would confuse to not known`people with a cloud ,But is not That why ancient call "the milky way" its a view of millons of millons of stars that make the shapes as it were milk ,but looking through the telescope or even any binocular you may see are far distances millons of suns or stars ,all of the part of the milky way ,the name of the Galaxy we live on

Most of the times in a single night you can see both sides Orion constelation is in fact part of one of this arm wich carry many close start relative to earth ,in

In a very clear and away from light city you can see it ,and that representation of FSX its the Milky way,(I climb Above 80.000 to check it out before post it ,It is
Watch the altitude!!

EDIT:I fix the image the other was too dark

I check my estelar map and its exacly the actual position of capricorn arm,,.straight ahead there's the center of our galaxy,
It would be amazing if this FSX also carries the closest stars (the celestial and local stars) you can use it as a guideness in this game as old Sailors use to navigate
Ill check this out now..

I've seen it too ALROT, it's pretty amazing.  I wasn't even expecting it, and suddenly I start FSX and there's the Milky Way!  I'm guessing it's one of those little additions in FSX we'll probably be noticing in the next couple of months. Wink

That is very cool... it's weird sometimes flying in FS9's not-so-accurate night skies.
It would be even better if one could actually navigate with the stars generated in the sim; I've found that doesn't work too well in FS9.
BTW, Alrot, you should know that it wasn't just sailors who used to use celestial navigation: it was a must for pilots also, until fairly recently.

I downloaded "Real Stars"  into FS9 which certainly has enough stars to navigate by. But for accuracy one does need the little windows in the cockpit roof aka the VC10.
It displays ALL the stars greater than magnitude 5 !!!!!!!!

Ahem!!!!!! You can see the Milky Way from the ground!!!!!!! Maybe in your neck of the woods there's too much light pollution. But there are many places away from towns and cities where it is clearly visible!!!

I'll bet $10,000,000,000 against you cheesegrater, fire up the demo and check it out.

Although, technically, the Milky Way is a "cloud" of gas and dust, but I don't think that's what he meant. Wink

It is a cloud of gas, dust and stars. It is a galaxy!!! The one in which we live!! Depending on conditions of visibility it can look like a faint cloud or on a really clear night one can easily distinguish millions upon millions of stars. But, nowadays to see it at all one has to be a considerable distance from any kind of street lighting. The image is clearly the shape of the milky.  All of you who made bets in it's favour can collect!!!!!!!

Apart from moon and stars and the wonderful Milky Way............a truly glorious sight. ...and from four feet nothing ASL..............commoner Cheesy

Not you don't have to because you right,I practice a lot astronomy wich today has become more difficult for me & friend to make a start party mounth, everytime we have to travel more far from the city today to achive to see far distance Galaxys, nebula cluster, and more detail solar system planet we have to drive for more than 2 hours wich 7 years ago in 15 minutes we use to have in a closer place

,I made Telescopes(Not for sale or busisness) this is a very old shot 8 years ago, today i have made more Including a 6 inch refractor with a secondary and equatorial mounth

Here is more shots of this

yea alrot, i sympathize.....i built an 8'' reflector once used 2''-3'' pipes...i purchased the mirror, but built the rest.......i gave it to our local planetarium to use but it somehow disappeared...not worth donating things sometimes....nice that they added the milky way to fsx....

This pic shows the starlight windows of the VC10 cockpit
In fullscreen the stars show up very well  but i have had to highlight them due to compression. This view shows the constellation Ursa Major with the two pointers to Polaris "The Pole Star" (in the upper window) Now all you need to do is measure the inclination of Polaris above the horizon. It's 2200hours Zulu  So where is my local airport??
