NOTAM:
To all SA tour participants and those who had thoughts of joining us this week.
There will be NO tour this week of September 8th, 2006 as Jake and I both will not be in town or even in the vicinity of a computer as of our most recent plans.
As of right now we have plans to continue the flight on the 15th of September at the usual time/place.
I'm sorry for the late notice but today was the first time I found out about my plans for the weekend.
I would like to encourage anyone who has free time tomorrow night to hop on the SimV server and perhaps fly with some of the people on there for a bit
Sorry for the inconvenience, hope to see everyone next week for a fun night of flying
Jared

Maybe I'll get on the SimV server and do some flying anyway.
Hope to be there on the 15th.

Got on about 9PM....and did takeoffs, patterns, and visual approaches at KSEA in the BAe 146-200 until about 10:20PM. It's the first I have flown that plane (my favorite) in almost 3 months now.... and only the second time flying anything in just as long.
Bounced a few...and well off center on most.... but by the end getting better. It is amazing how out of practice one can get.
best,
.....john

Well guys Im back. Sorry about having to cancel tour, but every so often there will be those weeks where we will have to cancel it. I always encourage you guys to get online and fly together even when there is no tour, because after all that is what we do this for, to fly online with our buddies.
There should be tour next week, I have no idea why there wouldn't be. Most likely we wont miss another week until near the end of October.

...just a thought, Lads....
Why dont you do what we do on "Jimbo's Tours"?
If there are two or more* of us there at the time able to complete the Hop, we do it anyway even if Jimbo can't be there for the flight.
He doesn't mind, we post the fact that we have completed the hop and every one is happy, and ready for the next hop in the sequence.....
...!
It works out fine...
...*most of the time, a goodly crowd turn up at the last minute...

I don't know for gijake but me I don't even know how to use the GPS
. JBaymore could lead the tour if Jared and Jakemaster are unable to come but if there's nobody to organise it it'll surely not be me who will do it
.

Have a peek at Jimbo's organised Europe Tours as an example....
If Jared posts a map and flight plan here, listing all the airfield way-points for each Hop in the sequence, all you have to do is follow the route on your FS 2004 GPS Map.
If anyone is using FS Navigator to navigate, so much the better...
...!
Our Pilots manage it OK independantly, and we all arrive at the correct airfields together, with no-one getting lost en-route...LOL......

First of all, I plan the hops for SA Tour. Secondly, we dont do a whole bunch of little hops, we do one big one every night, usually made to take about an hour. I have the basic idea of where we are going alll laid out, but I dont usually get to plan the actual hop until Friday.

Basically we're flying every saturday at 9pm in South America. The flight lasts about an hour and we usually fly props at a cruise speed of 120 to 180 kts. Once Jared even sped up to 250kts but I guess he was in a hurry
.
A few hours before the flight Jakemaster will post a thread like this one :
http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=Multi;action=display;num=1...
.
We recommend that you post a link so we can download the plane you're flying in in order to see you in the right plane and not in a default one.
I think that's all. If you have more technical questions ask Jakemaster or Jared, they are the ones who organise it
.
Cheers
-Seb

Well just check the Multiplayer forum before 9PM Eastern Time every saturday for tour info. Jared posts the IP about an hour before the flight, and normally some of us are on during that hour just flying around the starting airport.
Looking forward to seing you on tour, new pilots are always welcome!

Yes CSM.... please join in. The more people the more fun it is.
Not sure how new you are to using multiplayer correctly... ..... but please check the multiplayer info in this forum about opening the appropriate ports. That way everyone can connect.

CSM,
Then you ought to go here:
http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=Multi;action=display;num=1...
and also here:
http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=Multi;action=display;num=1...
To learn some stuff about setting up your computer and the sim multiplayer functions correctly BEFORE you join up on the tour day. Then test logging on to the SimV server (sam's server) (or most any other flight server) to make sure that things are working correctly.
Also read up on Teamspeak. You will likely want that in order to communicate with us all as we fly.... like in the real world via radio...... cause' the chat box gets VERY old fast.
Teamspeak is a separate program that you have to download and install . It is freeware. You ALSO have to configure it correctly.
Again do this BEFORE the SA Tour day. Read the instructions. It is not that hard. Once installed and test configured...... go onto a Teamspeak server (like the part at the SimV server) and see if you can both hear the other users...and also be heard clearly.
ALSO.... it is important to set up Teamspeak with the mike activation set on PTT (push to talk), not voice activated. Voice activated usually results in everyone hearing a lot of breathing noises, every cockpit alert and other such stuff.
Hope this helps you get started on multiplayer. It is a blast and well worth the time setting it all up.
best,
.................john
