For the difference a 'history' item that at time of writing is just a day old...
It's all over the news in holland and belgium... A group of 17 far right extremists (some of them are in the military) have been arrested after an investigation that took 2 years.
These guys were in the possesion of a working bomb, and had access to military equipment. A prepared note quiting their involvement in a bomb attack was also found
Not too much on the english language channels yet...
BBC item about it
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/5325198.stm(Watch
the BBC Category where the news is placed in, at the time of the statement they had no idea who the captured guys were)
Russian planes:
IL-76 (all standard length ones)
,
Tu-154 and Il-62
,
Tu-134
and

This is happening NOW... they captured these guys thursday evening.
And although there isn't much info yet about who or what they were planning to attack, it is thought that they were planning to come in action just before the local elections.
Wouldnt surprise me if they had plans to attack a high profile person / object and then blame the whole thing on islamic extremists...

...and use it to justify some kind of military action that was already being planned, perhaps? Wouldn't be the first ones to do such a thing.

It's Belgium... you don't need a military action to splat that country in two, especially when it gets close to an election.
These guys want Vlaams Belang to win the elections... Which isnt something to be happy about.
Anyway, the military guys involved here won't see daylight soon (maybe never, with planning an attack on the state)

No you're not misunderstanding. This is current affairs, not history.

And the only way to relate it to such is as "history in the making" -- but that can be applied to any current event...

Frankly, the history board might as well be dubbed the war board.
