I just scanned the link can someone tell me why, after radioing a 'technical fault' the crash was blamed on pilot error??

Ah, re-reading the BBC link I now see your confusion. The last  line of the article states that the 1995 Toronto airshow crash was blamed on pilot error - not this one - an easy mistake to make when briefly looking at the article...

To these Gentlemen,

MOD Obituaries

RIP

The repatriation ceremony at RAF Kinloss has now been going on for nearly an hour. A touching ceremony, with Mne Windall returning first (being a member of the senior service), followed by L/Cpl Dicketts, and then the 12 RAF Officers and Airmen of the crew.

BBC have covered the whole ceremony with customary dignity one comes to expect. Unfortunately Sky News lost interest after 10 minutes, although have now returned.

Spare a thought today for their families, and the 17 children who have lost their fathers.
