Just had another crash today about 40 miles away. An oral surgeon and his family had just taken possesion of a Cirrus(didn't get the model) and the engine went sour shortly after take-off. The craft was equipped with a chute and the pilot guided it into a retention pond. He was pulled out not breathing. The paramedics got him breathing but he passed at the hospital. The 3 family members survived with varying degrees of injuries.

moot point ... I believe , at the moment that the crew saw the danger "Oh my God!" that they would have pulled a TURBOPROP aircraft (w/same load) into the air and flown away. reason? superior wing/flap lift surfaces and those big churning props.

Much has bee said about over worked pilots.
What about over worked controllers?

This article outlines what could have been a contributing factor for the crash at KLEX.
