I don't think that has anything to do with fsX.
But according to my brower, the FSX demo will be released in around 18 hours.

Damn I'll be at school when it's released......
I wonder how big the demo file is
. The way I see it my computer's gonna be
working
downloading for quite awhile....
I never thought a FS demo would come out one day, that's a very good surprise and the most interesting is that we never heard of that demo before monday.
Cheers

Okay, when it's released it'll be 11 am down here so I'll be in a physics/chemestry course, trying to make some kind of battery out of Cu2+ and Na-
. I tell you, it's soooooooo interesting...........
. I'll be thinking about FSX for hours and never make anything that produces energy but a bomb that'll blow up the whole building
. And then I wont be able to try out the demo because I'll have to sell my pc to pay for my school to get repaired......
Cheers

Ouch... perhaps I'll be downloading through the night then! (I can see download speeds being unbearably slow with the amount of people going to be downloading at the same time!)

There is a way you can get the demo without waiting 8 hrs. A simple messing around with the source file and you have the demo file. But I won't try it coz it's illegal. Better to wait.

I have a feeling we'll be getting around 30kb/s, unless Gamespot have got some sort of 'mega-servers'!

Yikes!
Should the demo be 800 Mb, which I highly doubt, it'll take around 7.5 hours at 30 Kb/s.
A more realistic figure in my opinion would be 400 Mb, which will take around 4 hours then, at 30 Kb/s that is.
I don't care which it is though, cause here in Denmark it'll be 2 PM when the Demo is released, so I'll just start it and go to sleep and the next morning wake up to the finished demo.

Mess with what source file?
The wait is all about the number of downloaders, and ones connection speed.

I was looking at the Source of this page:
http://uk.gamespot.com/promos/2006/flightsimulatorx-demo/index.html
If you just tweak the countdown into thinking it's only got like 10 secs left, then after the 10 secs you get the link to download. Its simple.
I'm not telling everyone to do this by the way. I think I'll just wait. After all, it is only 8 hrs.

Guys, consider this...
The full FSX package will be 8GBs delivered on two DVDs...
The Demo is 800MB, which is about 10% of the full install...

Is this some sort of record for computer software? 8 gigs on 2 dvds? Im sure many of us have broken records with our own intallations (over 100 gigabytes is the biggest Ive heard people say), but an 8GB default install!?

Jump into the cockpit and get ready for the Flight Simulator X single-player demo! Whether you are a first time flyer or an experienced pilot, you'll be able to choose from three different missions to test your aviation skills. Explore the Caribbean islands in a Beaver float plane or take on a mission dropping sacks of flour from an ultralight glider and experience flying like never before!
I think this is the 'walkthrough'
