Good bye "Top of the Pops" - tonight is the final episode...
One last observation - the old presenters are so much better. Thank heavens that Cotton woman (one of TOTPs current presenters)is presenting "Love Island" at the moment.
Nice to see Sir Jimmy (Saville) back on telly for a last time, amongst others (including most of Radio 2's DJ line up)...

WOWZERS...
...!
Just when I thought I was old enough to remember all of the presenters, Charlie's list reminds me that I must have slept through most of the episodes...
...!
LOL...
...!
...actually, it's a bit embarrassing watching the old ones now...
...reminds me too much of the 1960's and 1970's, which I am desperate to forget...
...Big hair, tight flares, purple shirts (with sweaty armpits), big belts, platform shoes, etc, etc,....!
(I still have them all secretly hidden in my wardrobe)....
...!

Wogan never presented TOTP although I believe he appeared on it once. (The Floral Dance.)
Steve Wright is the regular presenter of TOTP2 on BBC2. I'm not sure if this has also been axed.

Ah yes, who could forget the Floral Dance
"I thought I could hear the curious tone
Of the cornet, clarinet and big trombone
Fiddle, 'cello, big bass drum
Bassoon, flute and euphonium
Far away, as in a trance
I heard the sound of the Floral Dance"

I rather like Steve Wright & crew. He's a lot better than some others I could mention.

Never listened to the man although I'm told he's one of the more objectionable types, like most of these so-called comedians & presenters the younger ones seem to like these days.

I am an avid Radio 4 listener, but after the 1 o'clock news has ended, the dreaded "Archers" is likely to modify my sensitive brain at 2 PM if I don't rush to switch the radio off....
...or turn over to Radio 2 and suffer the unending cringing wetness of Steve Wright "in the bleedin' afternoon"....
...!
Normally it's the end of my BBC radio listening until the Radio 4 news starts at 5 PM...
...!
...then the dreaded "Archers" repeats all over again at 7 PM...
...and I throw myself out of the upstairs bedroom window.....
...!
Paul...

LOL...

For anyone like me, who can remember, (hundreds of years ago), when "The Archers" used to be an interesting and highly educational Radio program relating to Farming practice at the time.
Dealing with livestock, markets, agriculture, farm maintenance, hedging, ditching,...and excellent tips on reading the weather, etc, etc....
...!
Now, the daft program is just another version of the awful, mind numbing, brain destroying television programs like Brookside, East Enders, Coronation Street, etc, you name it the Television folks put it on....trust me...
...!
..."The Archers" now has nothing whatsoever to do with country folk and farming...
...!
...It's a load of loud argumemnative crap...!
BBC Radio is rapidly going down the toilet, I tell you...
...!
I E-Mail them every day to tell them...
...but they ignore me...
..as you would expect...
...!
...arse...
...!
Paul "Where have all the Country Folk gone?" Fosbery... 8)...!
P.S. It's all you folks that
actually pay for a Television Licence
that encourage the BBC to shower the rest of we Radio Listeners with all this awful dross...
...!
(Many years ago the Radio Licence (50 Pence per year) was a seperate Licence which we oldies used to happily purchase each year to enjoy our Radio listening)...
...!
...Jeeeessss...I feel better now...
...!

Fozzer, I have just found the right site for you.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/archers/postcards/
You can send email postcards of Ambridge to all your friends.
Here is the archers screen saver.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/archers/screensaver/
And best of all, you can get a daily email the synopsis of the current episode into your mailbox - making it nice and easy to keep in touch with your favourite programme during the holidays!
Then, every Friday evening we they send you information about new content on our pages, news of Archers actors. Plus, other Ambridge snippets.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/archers/signup.shtml
Always will to help,
Matt

Last time I listened to the Archers old Walter Gabriel was alive & kicking. "Well me old pal, me old beauty". They don't make 'em like that any more.
Do they still have the omnibus edition on Sunday mornings?

Yes, and the only reason I know the answer to that question, is if I ring my mother when it is on, I am likely to be written out of my parents will.
