So the resolution will be ending, or in this case FS11. You can't just end the adventure at the climax. There has to be and end.

Pretty much like "The Lord of the Rings". The beginning, the climax and the ending. Grin

as technology improves... we will improve our games as well...

we have adressed some big issues in this forum, like hard drive space and computer power...

as the world becomes more connected through internet and such, i believe that fs11 will also be based on the internet... all you need are the aircraft and basic software, and all the other files will be based on the net...

just an idea...

So, instead of everyone having their own "stand alone" PC's as of now we will all become workstations of M(qualcosa)s
Wouldn't they just love that. And, they would do it if they could!!!!

A workstation would mean that every process would be launched on M$ servers.
This would not be the case, this would even be useless.
the only point stated before was that instead of shipping tons of DVDs to the customers, M$ would only ship a single CD containing the main application basis, and the very heavy data like terrain could be read "on demand" from their servers.

Sure M$ would be happy about this solution, since it would give some serious trouble to pirates (nothing to crack, since there would be nothing to copy).

Anyway, there's nothing to worry about. Such a solutin is simply impossible nowadays, and still won't be possible for several years.

Not to mention the fact that Microsoft has a habit of constanting catering to the needs of the dial-up users as well.

The solution whereby we would all become workstations of M(qualcosa)s  will never be allowed here in Europe. The idea of having to log onto their site in order to download code, in ordere to allow them to clandestinely interrogate our pc's NO!!

Sure it would be allowed. Why not ? Some application already use that, just like your FS9 already reads Jepesen meteo data, or your GPS software reads trafic data, etc...
PS: forgot to mention the most obvious example: google earth.

I THINK there will be another FS, but maybe not till 2009 or something.

FsX LOOKS like it's designed to last as it is already decided it will have DX10 support when Vista ships or there abouts.

These that you have quoted are different!
What would NOT be allowed would be having to effectively "log on" in order to activate an operating system. In other words your PC would be acting as if it were a workstation.

Hmmm... sorry I think I don't really understand what you mean.
What about MMORPG players, that cannot play without being looged on a registered account ? This account is created via a unique identification on the software maker's side. Ok there's no download there, but basically it is the same problem, the software would not work without loggin ?
Or am I wrong ???

Lets stop going 'but this', 'but what about'...

The whole idea about everyone having to login to a MS server for terrain data and stuff is too complicated.  It can be done, but it simply isn't practical.  Plus, there would probably some law-suits in other countries (esp. Europe) against MS claiming globalization (even tho every company/government/etc. are trying to do that anyway)
(they managed to make the euro currency didn't they?)

But like I said, too complicated and impractical.

...&&FS Water Configurator+ has new modifications in the works, plus DirectX 10, Service Pack&&1, and Radeon HD 3+ Series support.
