Date/Time

The airshow will be held on Saturday 19th August at 6:30pm UK time, 1:30 US time (EST).

Server

On the official SimV server!

Location

The airshow will be at LFML (Marseille/Provence, France).

Aircraft information

Click here for the full aircrat list.

On the Day

Aircraft taxi, parking, landing and display info
See below:
...
Airshow rules
  • When flying into LFML(audience or display) please DO NOT simply spawn your aircraft at LFML. There are many nearby airfields to spawn at but don't appear on the runway. Audience: Fly only the default aircraft please. Once you have landed please taxi to your position switch to the default sailplane to watch the show in. Display aircraft: Fly in in your display aircraft but once in position please switch to the default saiplane until you are due to perform.
  • Please only use the chat box to A: announce your arrival/request landing or takeoff clearance. B: if you have displayed please announce when you are coming into land so that the next aircraft can get ready. I will be filming the event and it is very annoying if the chat box suddenly pops up!
  • DO NOT fly over the airport while there is a display in process.

Thanks a lot. Hopefully everyone will stick to this and we will have a wonderful show!

Should be fun. Could you let us know what time and date you have in mind? I'll bring my Hawker Typhoon for a quick solo http://www.simviation.com/fs2004vintage50.htm
http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/syb.cgi?section=vintage&file=TyphoonUpdate.zip
and I will maybe do a display with my VBBMF fellows in the Spit V http://www.theheavenlyhangar.com/freestuff/SEAF/FS2004/AH_Seafire_AUTO_FS2K4.exe Grin
I will need to know the date before I confirm however.

Right, ive found a location!
The Airport is Marseille/Provence (LFML), France.
This airport is ideal because it has two parallel runways and suitable room for parking. One runway will be used for spectators flying in, the other for show arrivals/main show. I'll post pics nearer the time to show parking guidelines for the audience.
Get on over there to practice!!!

Btw. Doc, i will change the time anyway because that dogfight would be a huge loss to the show. I might even display myself, been practicing in the Lightning. Englandbloke, im not sure. U could probably fly that but ill have to look into it.

Cheers.

Jake, maybe you could have a preview show the night before, show a few mini shows, etc. And during the airshow we will gather as much people as we can into Teamspeak and have an announcer stating what the performance will be like and what is going on. The only thing I plan to do is a flyover with a jet, then I'll be on static display the rest of the time;) Are you going to make up a schedule of events for the day?

Yeah that would be a nice idea. Maybe i could display then but not on the day. It would be could because it might give people who cannot fly or watch the actual airshow a chance to see some flying!

A jet flypast would be nice (i would love for it to be a canberra or vulcan as the canberra is retiring soon) and a schedule will be made nearer the time as im still discussing the date/time.

Thanks again for letting me use your server!!!

A victor should be ok. Im gonna contact the organisers of the SimV airshow and see if they have any suggestions regarding when the best time/date would be to have the show. I've already P.M'd anyone that showed interest.

EDIT: is this the victor?

Yeah, you can fly the victor.
It would be nice (if frame rates allow) for each aircraft that perfomed in the show to get up in the air for a mass flypast at the end of the show.

Saturday is going to be bad for me also now due to work. I'll be home later but 16:30 will be no good for me. Reading a few posts it seems a lot of people will have problems with this Saturday so I suggest you push the date back. It will give you time to sort out all the planning and give everyone time to get ready. Not sure I'm too keen on all the modern stuff creeping in. The title says Warbird Air show and a Warbird to me is a piston engine aircraft from the WW1/2, Korean war era. Still, it's not my show so fly what you please Wink Grin

Im gonna push the date back because a lot of people cannot make it this saturday and this will give people more time to prepare for the show. I think maybe saturday the 12th or sunday 13th at around 6:30pm UK time, 1:30pm US time. I cannot do the airshow from 2nd to the 7th August or the 16th to the 22nd.
And yeah, there is a few modern aircraft creeping in. Maybe ill apply a new 'piston' only rule.
Cheers.

Sounds good. I'll be in my Spitfire PRXIX, if there is a vBBMF display, or even if there isn't. I suppose I can sort out a solo if it doesn't work out.

True, but a Victor ain't a Warbird. When one says Warbird, one generally refers to WWII fighters - having said that, I could very well be wrong and a Warbird is indeed just a 'craft from a war Roll Eyes Grin

if you was implying my plane was moden wich it aint. it was around in the korean war ira. was flying years before the kerean war ended. lol so unless im told i aint alowed to fly the victor then ill be there in it.
Wink

The HP.80 first flew in 1952 and Korea ended in '53. The first Victor B.1 flew in 1956, a few years after Korea me thinks Wink The UN would have been greatful for a squadron of V-Bombers during the Korean War I think. Anyhow like I said, it's not my show so fly what you like, makes no difference to me.
Mid August should be OK for me. Keep us posted.

EDIT: I've decided to only allow WW2 aircraft.

Ok. Heres the info regarding where to land, taxi etc. All is explained here:
...
Ill post this, along with much more info, rules etc. on the front page of this and also in the main multiplayer forum nearer the time. Looks like August 12th is the date, yet to be confirmed.

Cheers.

Im fairly sure the show will be on August 12th. Do you have any videos? I'd like to see a display but weve already said that it is WW2 aircraft only; i dunno, maybe we could make an exception for the Reds. I'd like to see some pics/videos before i make a desision though. Plus (and this has already been discussed) the impact on framerates for such a display may be massive.
Cheers.

Also, Teamspeak will be open that day, I should have a special channel made for the airshow. I think it would be more conveinient to talk in TS than in the fs chatbox. I will be out of town that day, so any trouble you have with the server can't be dealt with immediately.

I'm not sure what the business with the displaying aircraft park is. Will all of the aircraft displaying have to stay there for the whole show, or like others, go over to the audience side?

The displaying aircraft can go over to the audience after they've displayed but beforehand (when preparing etc.) it is probably easier if they are in the same place (just to make it easier for taxiing etc). I dont mind though, if its a bad idea then ill change it and just put everyone in the same place. What do you think?

Probably best for the displaying aircraft to go over to that side a couple of displays before them. That way they can see most of the show from the right angle!

Ive put the audience quite far from the main display so you can see the planes (hopefully) so you should be able to see most of it.

Download F1View.

Then you can move your eyepoint around whilst in VC. Move out of the cockpit, then you can just look around.

Hey guys, just a little update.

I have a channel on Teamspeak that all of you that want to be on Teamspeak, can be in that channel to communicate (yes, it is easier than using the chatbox Wink ) And I will get a page up on the website soon with links to download the aircraft performers will be flying, a guide, etc. as soon as I get the information from Jake.

And also, if Jake wants to, I will open a special server just for the airshow on the day of the 12th. Hopefully everything runs smoothly as I wont be in town on the 12th! Shocked

Regards,

I'm still up for a display, but I may change it from a Spitfire to something else.

Speaking of which, when's the deadline to state what aircraft you'll be flying, and will there be a thread with a collaboration of all the aircraft/download links (as with the airshow me and cspyro organised)?

A few more questions.(from a newbie of course)
Which version of teamspeak is to download? Server? Client? Do i understand this right;to watch the show it is necessary to get to the Airport by flying a Plane and land on the Airfield?I´ve already understood that i can´t spawn at the Field on which the show is going to happen. Can someone please give me the Code of an Airfield nearby that i can spawn at? I would really like to watch the show live. Do i need the IP Adress of the hosting server too?

I've never tried that but you should be able to log on the server as an observer, and therefore won't require to fly a plane yourself. This choice should allow you to jump from an aircraft to another, which is a pretty interesting option if you don't want to miss anything Wink.

Download the both as you need the server to connect.

I dont really know what happens if you are an observer. You can just land at LFML and taxi to the aircraft park to watch the show (but please do it in the default cessna Wink).
Ill post a list of nearby airports later.

Why dont we have people show up who are going to watch, or us who are performing, after or before our demo/flight, to be on the flight line (crowd line) sitting with the Shwietzer (sp?).  When it is your turn, simply slew forward a bit, switch your ac to the one you are using, and then taxi out and take off.  I know that for our dogfight, I am staying on the ground while the Me, is inbound, and i "scramble".  I just simply dont like the idea of flying in.  We've never done it for the SimV airshow, and if we have to fly in, then how are people going to be able to see it in a real "airshow" kind of way?  You really cant with observer mode.  Just my  $.02

I'm not sure yet but I might join.... I gave it a thought and figured out it'd be pretty cool to be part of the show. However the only good warbirds that I know are already listed above and used by other simmers so I wonder wether it matters if I'm flying the Alpha Bleu Ciel Corsair like Clipper? Maybe could I fly it with another paint or whatever, just tell me if it matters that we have similar aircrafts.

Cheers

The more planes the better. It doesnt really matter if someone is flying the same plane as you. RhinoIL, i guess you can just spawn at a gate and then go to parking but it probably easier not to, up to you though. I dont mind Wink.

@MrJake; please don´t forget the List of Airports that we can spawn at to fly to where the Event happens.
Or ist it possible to spawn at a Gate directly on LFML?
And then taxi to the parking area?

The fly in is before the show.

Ps. sorry i couldn't post the list last night, my mother was taken into hospital.

Its wierd. I always go on multiplayer and ive never had any problems. When mic saw me briefly that was when i tried to disconnect and reconnect, but then i just vanished Sad. I was thinking about running it next saturday instead if anyone is interested but ill need someone to help run the show on the ground in case no one can see me again. Btw, i would rather it was on the simv server but i cant get it to work, even after opening all the ports etc. So if anyone wants to display again next saturday, same time, same plaace, pm me or reply here. I got some great film anyway. If enough people want to try again then i'll make it into a trailer. Wink

Cheers,
MrJake2002.

The server yesterday at UF was really starting to screw up, and it was one of the worst days for it to happen, too. I only had about 5 minutes to try and correct the problem before I left at 5 yesterday, so I was tired and rushing. I dont think I fixed the problem either because now the server is messed up. Sooo... I'm guessing it'll be down for awhile.

Date/Time

The airshow will be held on Saturday 12th August at 6:30pm UK time, 1:30 US time (EST).

Server

On the official SimV Server!

Location

The airshow will be at LFML (Marseille/Provence, France).

Aircraft information

Click here for the full aircrat list.

On the Day

Aircraft taxi, parking, landing and display info
See below:

Evenso the only thing that came round for me was correct adjusting of my Router ports,it was great fun.
But someone´s got to give me a tutorial for the future...how to get a good angle to watch the displays. Smiley

It just wouldn't work, nothing else to it. Opened the ports in my router exacly as described and disengaged my firewall but still nothing.

I had to turn off my firewall to get in last night, never had to do that before. Once connected I turned it back on again and everything was fine, well almost. I got booted once and my joystick stopped working at one point ??? Roll Eyes Never mind, it was a good little show. Well done chaps, had fun. Grin
