The sailplane isn't a Schweizer, and I don't think its a Widgeon, but a Grumman Goose.

Looks like someone a bit confused on which aircraft is which. What's next? Mistakingly thinking that a 737 is a stunt plane? Oh wait... it is a stunt plane... for Ozzy. Grin

I was wrong. Angry

I heard now that MS will ditch the Century of Flight planes (wright flyer, dc4, etc.). Tongue

But for those of you who like flying them, copy the aircraft you like from the FS9/Aircraft/ folder, and save them as backups.  If FSX is as compatible is they say it is, you should be able to paste the aircraft folders into FSX's Aircraft folder, so that you can fly them.  Gauges and Effects will not work if the corresponding gauges and effects are not copied. Wink

That's already been confirmed. You have to remember that there have been people who didn't like having a stock fleet of vintage props when they wanted a bigger stock fleet of either business or commercial jets. There are also those like me who just don't care what planes Microsoft puts in because we almost never use the stock ones anyways.

Actually, I read that they are only  eliminating most of the FS-9 historic aicaft. The key word here is "most" meaning, they will (hopefully) keep a few.

Personally I would like them to keep the J-3, DC-3, perhaps the Ford Tri Motor and DeHavilland Comet.
They can keep the rest.  Wink

Home airports are KMGJ and KSWF in Orange County, NY&&Stop by and say hello. Smiley

I would like some clarification there... Here is the exact sentence out of the Avsim article:
Microsoft will be releasing 2 versions of FS-X. A standard version and a deluxe version. This release includes 24 aircraft and most of the “historic” aircraft from FS9 have been dropped.

What does "dropped" mean ? Dropped into the FSX deluxe box ? Or dropped away ?

Dropped on the floor while M$ were carrying all aircraft from one sim to another.

Generally, it means that most of the vintage type planes that you saw in FS9 "will not" be included in FSX. FS9 represented the "century" or "history" of flight while FSX will represent the "future" of flight. Basically, out with the old and in with the new.

Pity... Ive always enjoyed the Schwizer Glider in there. (Although I may not know how to spell it)  Grin I always thought it was awesome to fly a glider that was made 20 minutes from where I live. Schweizer is located at KELM in NY, very close to my house, it doesnt build gliders anymore (they now work on civilian tilt-rotors and unmanned recon helos, plus Sikorski just bought them and they are gonna make Blackhawks too)  however there are still training centers for gliding operated there along with a glider-port/museaum on a nearby hill. Maybe someone will make a good freeware one.

Some say my pinky toe was replaced with a fountain pen, and that I love to ride on nuclear bombs with a saddle. All I know is.... I'm called THE STIG!!!!

Flight dynamics like a brick with wings, the 20m+ wingspan glider in FSX is way better

With the 2 revies up:
changes in Planes
- 737 -> Now one with winglets
- 747 -> no closeups yet... might be the same
- A321 -> only VC shot and a far away outside shot
- CRJ-whatever -> new one
- Kingair which has an even uglier paintjob than it had in FS9.
- Better looking jetranger
- Piper Cub is still alive
- some better texture work on the C208

Features
- Better mesh
- soft edge shadows
- more tree density (Silverwings like density as default)
- more airport details including moving airbridges

Only major gripe is that there still is no self shadowing on the planes...

Russian planes: IL-76 (all standard length ones),  Tu-154 and Il-62, Tu-134 and An-24RV&&&&AI flightplans and repaints can be found here
