I guess it's all due to lack of use as more and more people started using other, more simpler servers for online play rather than having to download installation files for an hour just to fly a 10-minute session.

not to mention that IP hosted games were a bit more stable on connections than zone. i remember constantly that i would have a game of 8-12 people, and i would see 6, but others saw 8, then more joined the game. that person saw everyone, but no one saw him. it was a fiasco.

then the zone became what it was until it shut down on the 19th. an advertising service. and it worked wonders, MSN was getting attention for people to come to the site, the individual entities were reaching out to their main target on the larget FS traffic site,. Flight simmers found themselves in A: a chatroom service, with access to help, tips, etc..., B:a wealth of games, both Zone and IP hosted, and C: a place to join VA's (and the like) to increase their knowlegde in FS.

it was a great system, sad to see it go.

in all honesty, I wouldn't be surprised if the whole of the msn gaming zone is taken down and replaced with something else.
This seems to be a trend mocrosoft are getting into lately. They seem to be rebranding everything we know as msn. MSN Messenger became Windows Live Messenger, the passport network is now Windows Live ID and hotmail will be changing to Windows Live Mail.

Windows Live Gaming anyone?

as opposed to Previously recorded gaming? Tongue Roll Eyes

ditto with Windows istelf, went away with numbers and went to names, XP, Vista, me.

im not excatly why they are choosing "Live Beta" i don't understand what's so special about it. just more eye candy i suppose
