I'll buy the deluxe version only if it contains a hard copy manual.
I am sick of blowing pages of my printer paper, and ink on printing out the stuff I need only to end up losing it and having to reprint everything.
Would it kill them to make a manual like 2002 or 2000 which ever it was.

I wouldn't mind paying a few bob more for a DeLuxe edition which contained a 322-page Manual, which was supplied along with FS 2000... Wink...!
...or even included in the "normal" price...!

I often use it as a reference manual even now, with FS 2004... Grin...!

Paul...I like reading books in bed... 8)...!

Yes, there is a lot to be said about a manual that should be included with FSX.

Printing, and then, sifting through the pages when you are  trying to lean the basic of a subject of say, navigation, can be absolutely frustrating for a novice and really anoying for more advanced simmers who just want a simple answer to a single question.

MSFS is supposed to be one of MS's primier products and I can not understand why a printed manual is not included as it can only increase the final cost of the product by a coulple of $ at the most.

Not including one is a prime example of being "penny wise and pound foolish!" How many first time simmers just give up out of frustration from the lack of an included printed manual and never buy another MSFS again.?

Not much I guess coonsidering that much of the help is now mostly provided by the never-ending and ever-growing FS community like SimViation. Tell me, can you look at me straight in the eye and tell me that an average manual provided by M$ with FS will tell me what to do if I wanted to make my own aircraft for FS? And don't forget that I was able to understand the flight sim's user interface [it's easy as heck] and I never even bothered to look at the digital manual because of the UI's simplicity.

Becides, I don't care about the manual nowadays. It was never much use to me anyways other than to be used as a door stop. Grin

I was refering to first time simmers. Most  don't even know about the sim sites at frst. These are the ones that MS wants to broaden the market with and are also the ones who need an included printed manual most.

I stand by my previous comments. Smiley

Too true... Wink...!

I spent many hours curled up in bed studying the FS 2000 Manual in between practising the various instructions in the Sim, when I purchased the Sim.

I still refer to the FS 2000 Manual, and the Pro Pilot manual even now, as well as borrow the Aircraft instruction books at my local Library for all the technical details.
It enabled me to master the Sims quickly, without having to constantly ask questions on various Forums... Wink...!

All the flight dynamics are there, listing the dangers of flying outside of the safe envelope, together with full details on the flight controls, (Throttle, Mixture, Propeller), description and design of the flying surfaces, use of the trim controls, understanding and operating the radios, and using them for navigation, including Radio Beacons,...etc, etc....full of illustrations, to study in your own time...all in the FS 2xxxx Manual....Grin...!

Cheers all...!

Paul...I hate having to read instructions displayed on a vertical computer monitor.....it's a pain in the arse neck... Wink... Grin...!

Only 2000 had a hard manual.

2002 has a "manual" but it only has basic, basic, basic commands.

Then they give you a disk with the real manual. Angry

I just winged it (no pun intended) 8)

No, FS98 had a large, comprehensive manual complete with simplified sectional charts of major cities.  I lot mine tho....

But I still have my CFS manual, and it is comparable.  Very nice, about 200 pages, lots of interesting information on aerodynamics, air combat, and even comprehensive historical information of some Aces during the war and the various aircraft, aircraft weapons and armaments, and much, much more

I'd rather buy the deluxe version,as all the extra features would be pretty cool.
(slightly off-topic- I hope someone makes a freeware L1011 for FS X,as I had a lot of fun in FS2004 with a freeware L1011.)

Somewhere in the articles it states that the deluxe version would also have the SDKs. Just like FS2002pro did.
