I would you to help me with this question. I want to buy a new Video card that would allow me to still play with the older games.

Most of the newer video cards do not support the older games. I install a G6200 Video card and have been unable to play with EAW and Silent Hunter 1.

I still like those older programs. Maybe there is a card out there that will allow me to upgrade my PC video card and still use this older simulators.

Your help will be appreciated

I have still got all my old 3DFX Voodoo cards especially for playing all my old games dating back to the mid 1990's....
my latest version being the 3DFX Voodoo 3 3000, 2D/3D PCI card.... Grin...!

(Hagar, I think still has the very latest card from them, the 3DFX Voodoo 5 5500, an excellent card!).

My new nvidia BFG 6600 GT wont play most of my really old games successfully even in Open GL mode....So I swop over cards to play the old "stuff"... Cry...!

Note: 3DFX Voodoo cards have been out of production for many years now.

Cheers...!

Paul... I Love 3DFX....8)...!

Most of my old games...1995 to 2000+ were designed to run on one of the Open GL graphics cards available at the time, like the 3DFX Voodoo 2/3 cards ,and either won't run on the later cards, or lock-up, or display graphical errors.
Trying to run your old games on a new-fangled, super-dooper card and Windows XP in an old-fashioned mode often won't work...
Been there, tried it...many times...Trust me...!

If you're patient and do the homework you can pick up some very nice older 3DFX, Glide, and Open GL on line for cheap. I've bought a Voodoo3, Diamond Monster #D, and Creative Graphics Blaster, all with manuals and driver cd's, for cheap.
But, you also have to know when and if you should update drivers as not all games work with the newest drivers. You also need to know if you can use an AGP(Many brand name off-the-shelf machines have no AGP slot), or PCI card.

I have a 256MB PCI Express x16 (DVI/VGA/TV-out) ATI Radeon X800 XT video card and it seems to do well with all the older games and hasn't had any problems with the newer games. Of course having 4 gigs of DDR2 ram helps allot.... Wink
