Download the beta and find out for yourself.. It's the only way to know for sure if your computer will run Vista. They just went public with the beta, so anyone can download it now.

Most of your devices will work by default with Vista but you still need the video drivers from your card manufacture which MUST be designed specifically for Vista use. The drivers included with Vista are just like the dirvers included with XP... they will run your devices but NOT to their maximum abilities.

You would not run MSFS or any other game using the default Microsoft WinXP RAID, video or audio drivers, same goes for Vista.

As for will your system run Vista,,,, most will run it, but unless you are running what would be considered today, at minimum, a medium-high performance system Vista will be handicaped, but will run.

For best results you will need 2 gigs of physical memory for Vista and games. You will also need a video card which has 512mb of memory, preferably 1024mb when the cards are released.

Not True, FS9 runs better in Vista than in XP, because with the new Directx 10, their is less overhead. I get about 2fps more in vista than I do in xp, and I only have a 128 mb card. It runs Aero and all of it's transparent windows fine, btw.

2FPS?

Hardly worth installing the bloated OS

I can get 5-8+ more by tweaking my drivers and FS9 in XP X32 or x64

I have been testing Vista for quite a while... I have a perspective which is based on experience and a connection to the source of the software.

You do not have any DX10 support because it is NOT FULLY implemented in that OS yet and your card wont support it even if it was. The full DX10 release will not be installed into Vista until the next release, which is when driver support is expected to change from lousy to decent.

I did not say it would not run, I said FOR BEST RESULTS and to experience what Vista can provide for games, WHEN they are released with Vista support, you will need the items I listed above.
