For all of us wanting what is supposed to be a huge step forward in graphics processing, get ready to buy Vista and start over.  Appears that XP will not support DX10 because it is built deep within the new Vista platform.  MS has perfected the art of having us upgrade!  Todd

Its not FSX and XP that we are concerned about, its DX10, the latest step in graphics rendering.  It is supposed to be light years ahead of DX9 and only Vista will support it.  Which means a new operating system and video card will be needed to get the most out of the new sim. Todd

MAC is good if you have loads of money and mind buying a whole system every 2 or 3 years instead of just upgrading evry 12 months. I work with macs at college in Logic. I do realize how good Macs are for this kind of work, I mean, very specific technical work and more. I would love to be able to have a mac just to work with logic, but as I don't have money to buy two diferent computers I have, unfortunately, to opt for the more versatile PC platform...

Also, the thing with dx10 is not like it is a big surprise. At one point the OS would have to change drastically to accomodate the new technologies and all the advances that happened since XP came out.

If M$ tried to do a XP dx10 compatible OS it would probably have much more bugs than a new OS built especially to work with dx10 (among other stuff) like Vista.

I know it's hard to know that we will have to spend lot's of money in 2007 if we want to keep up with FS, but that is the cost of faster and faster advances in computers.

This is so certain that it just becomes irrelevant...I mean, it's just the way it is. If you want new technology you will allways have to pay more for it. But I can assure you that after you spend the money and start for the 1st time FSX in a good system DX10 prepared, you'll forget the money you just spent...hehe

I'll probably buy the fsx for XP for now, and keep it for the first months and try to save money to buy a new system...
