I have just recently started working with Gmax. I was working last night on a scenery. I had just Exported an XML and Mdl succesfully, I then edited a few parts positions and when I tried to Export  I got the following error message:

Make MDL was not found, or failed to convert the model in 'C:\gmax\meshes\Scn_1' to a .MDL file. Check your system path to ensure MakeMDL is on it.

Now I get this message no matter what source files I try to export. I have tried removing and reinstalling  gmax and the Gmax sdk and still get this message. Can any one help?

Grasshopper - check your error log.  makemdl is not smart enough to tell you WHAT the error is by itself.

Your error log should be in the same folder to where you tried to export your model, and should have the name mymodel.log  OPen it and the error of your ways should be revealed.

Most likely you have committed the unpardonable sin of "Co-Located Vertices" or some equally horrible mutilation of one or more parts.....

My question is do you have the SDK'S for GMAX
Look in the sticky FAQ's  at the front of this section and you will see the files you need to have. You must have the SDK,S for each type of program you wish to use GMAX for without them it will not work right for that program. 8)

Roger that! Number of vertices did not match Number of normals in part07. Removed part07 and exported perfectly. Thank you Felix and Gary.
