Of course, given the current hullabaloo around the world as to the conspiracy theories around the Knights Templar, Priory of Sion, and the Rose as a symbol (if you're not aware of "The DaVinci Code" mess, what planet have you been?)
I propose that the "War of the Roses" was really all about two factions of the surviving Knights Templar and who would emerge supreme as the caretakers of the "Secret"
THE WAR OF THE ROSES:
May 22, 1455
In the opening battle of England's War of the Roses, the Yorkists defeat King Henry VI's Lancastrian forces at St. Albans, 20 miles northwest of London. Many Lancastrian nobles perished, including Edmund Beaufort, the duke of Somerset, and the king was forced to submit to the rule of his cousin, Richard of York. The dynastic struggle between the House of York, whose badge was a white rose, and the House of Lancaster, later associated with a red rose, would stretch on for 30 years.

So the whites rose up first -- sounds kind of like Russia.

I suspect the Holy Grail has been hidden in St Mary's Church, Sompting all along. I lived in Sompting when I first got married & my daughter was christened* in this famous old church.

She also attended the Templars first school in Sompting although this has no connection to the Knights apart from the name.
*Aircraft designer George Miles lived next door to the church for many years. He kindly lent us his Jag for the day.

Supposedly in my family tree exists a Knights Templar called Palmer, but H, I like your parallel.
