Well two people are dead and two seriously injured after the German World Champion R/C pilot lost control of his aircraft over a crowd of people here in Hungary.
What I'd like to know is why he was flying over the crowd in the first place? The two dead were hit square in the head by this oversized toy...

Sad news..
But i think that are taking safety abit lighter in the former eastern block, than here in western europe.
But thats just my opinion...

I think judging from the footage I've seen it was meant to be a Pitts. So yup biplane prop.
Hungary has a very good record on safety Theis... I live here and I should know

I think a lot of people remember the Ukraine Mig-29 into crowd episode and think "Yup that is the Eastern Bloc"... a pity everyone gets tarnished with the same brush
I have to say I've been highly impressed with the safety attitudes both here and in Croatia at airshows. I understand Czech Rep. also has an exceptional attitude towards safety as well.

Thanks to you Mark, my view on eastern block airshow safety has changed
And maybe the therm "Eastern block" wasn't the right word, it should've been "Eastern Europe"
Sorry Mark
Cheers Theos

Can't be a nice way to die though... must have been a pretty hefty model to kill them.
Any links to this story, though?

Ugh, that's terrible. Would be absolutely awful to be the German pilot too.

jeez, how awful would you feel if you were the "pilot" of the pitts though
. A horrific and fortunately rare event
, my thoughts to the friends and family of those who were killed.

That sad, I fly RC aircraft as well..... But why is this in Real Aviation? If you look at the selection under "Photos" and RC flying (this sucks) topic you can see my airplane. Very sad incident this is.
