Heres a nav pop up I`ve been workin on for CFS1. So would one of you Navigation buffs tell me what you think of it.
I know its not perfect, But do I have the general idea or am I in left field. Its only the last three weeks that I`ve been trying to learn how to get from point a to point b without Cfo`in to destination.
Ferlin,

I'm no expert on ANY kind of navigation (usually just point 'em at the sky and hope) but it seems to me that the gauge looks a bit cluttered. I like the colors, but it's probably prudent to pull the eight minor compass points off (NNE, ENE, etc) and put on the more major points, like NW, SE, and such.
Also, it sort of looks as though someone has smeared their finger over a dusty gauge, right there in the center of the image. I think you've been getting some bleeding from the rest of the image, but that could be because of compression and whatnot. But I kind of like it. It gives the gauge a little of a "used" feeling, which is nice if you're working on a cockpit with a few years in it. You might even try upping the aspect of that, creating a little "dust film" over the whole thing, complete with finger smears . . .

It is not a bad idea but I think it is a little much I do not see why you would need the referance points of NNE and the others as ATC will never tell you to turn SSW they allways use degrees. Now the other numbers like 225 345 and so on would not be a bad idea as some of the smaller compass are hard to read and to find degrees like 272 so the other numbers would come in handy. But how big would you have to make the gauge in order to read them a huge gauge is just not very life like. If you can shrink it down to a more reasonable size and still be able to read it I think it would be a great tool to have in smaller aircraft since most of the larger aircraft have a digetall heading adjustment. 8)

Thanks for feedback gents. Its not going to be a guage, its just a pop up and I made it large for my old eyes. The
points of NNE and others are just quick reference for combat. Mostly so I can tell what direction a bogie is approaching from.

Power is always good.
I make panels, but making guages, I don`t have a clue. Wish I knew where to learn how guages are made.
