Look at this great archive film on this site of London Airport (Heathrow) early days complete with tents as terminals (I remember them).

Vololiberista, thats really cool. There's some great aircraft featured in the film too. I'm sure I spotted the civil versions of the Avro Lancaster and the Handley Page Halifax in there!

I'd love to find something similar about good old Newark Airport (the American one... Grin )... hard to believe that at one time it was just a big circle of cinders and grass.
World's first control tower, paved runway, lighted runway, and first passenger terminal, if what I"ve heard is true.
