It's kind of hard to realize how realistic some of the payware and even freeware aircraft are until you actually get in the real thing and know exactly where each switch is even if you've never been in the real thing ever in your life Smiley

Such was my case last friday night in an embraer erj-135 Smiley

I severely doubt that Ashar...  Grin Wink

Anyhow, what Jared here says is true; I've flown jumpseat in an Airbus A330-301 and I tell you, it's quite amazing how many of the systems I was familiar with.

Well that's a completely different thing Smiley
I bet if you put many of the hardcore simmers into any given airline cockpit, they'll be able to do a complete start up from cold and dark. After all they work after the same basic principles, n'est-ce pas?

But is it the same thing as landing a jet with maybe faulty systems (as most emergencies are?)

Jared, my response was actually more towards the quote in my previous reply. Sorry for that  Smiley

I just smile though, whenever I read at Avsim etc, those naive posters who actually thinks that just because they know *insert payware aircraft here* inside out they believe they are qualified to fly the real thing. (no Jared, you're NOT of one those, relax matey!  Cheesy)

Take away their fancy FMS, throw in a hydraulic failure etc to boot, and watch them go down with a bang.

My school will get their Airbus simulator soon, though I'm familiar with their systems, I'll probably just stare at all those buttons and switches and be dumbfounded for awhile  Grin

That's when you remember what they teach you about how a lot of the buttons and switches are only there to be touched in an emergency Wink
