Making a benzier curve using PSPX. Setting are  for Line style is a straint line, width 1, anti-aliasing is checked. When coverted and looked at in the flight sim it shows ok but still appears pretty jagged. Any help on fixing this or is somthing I will have to live with.

You may want to increase the line size to 2  + anti-aliasing turned on.

What happens is that when the image is converted to a bitmap, it becomes a raster image, not vector, so that you get "jaggies".   You can sort of work around it with the anti-aliasing on, etc., but it's the nature of the beast.

I don't know if PSPX has an equivalent but in Photoshop one can create perfectly smooth swirls with two clicks after the Eliptical Marquee tool is filled with the requisite color:
Select Menu
1.) Distort
2.) Shear

Drag the line to the desired shape.

BOTH Photoshop and Paint Shop Pro can create smooth vector graphics - the smooth lines, etc.

The problem arises, in either program, when the image layers are "flattened" and become rasterized, as they need to be when becoming the final bitmaps.

Of course you'll see the smooth graphics on screen in the native format (*.psp or *.psd) of the graphics program.

To some extent, I presume that you can increase the dpi of the bitmap as well, to minimize the "jaggies".

If you're happy I'm happy. Being slow doesn't have a lot to do with it. My son-in-law is a graphic artist by profession and uses PhotoShop daily; when I asked him how to create swirls he didn't really have the definitive answer (why would he: it's not a feature he uses)

I just happened upon Tutorial Man's site and viola! I agree . . . they're pretty darn cool  Cheesy

Think I figured it out useing a smoothing option on the active curve and then useing the soften brush, not quite as nice as yours but pretty darn close. Going to post what ive done sofar but have to find out how and resize the image

Thanks for all the help guys
