Hi all

First I must way;
Job well done,
Ferrari

I am having some creative ideas and need a couple questions answered, if anyone happens to know.

  • Can an aircraft be split in two in FS9?
  • Can a turbojet be removed in FS9?
  • Can ground objects be used to move the fuse/eng?

By this I mean to remove the aft fuselage section. I would need to have it movable in the sim at least 10ft in scale, so it could be moved back apart from the forward half of the plane. Then have the engine removable and it too moves back for viewing.
I am wondering if the sim has the ability to do this. I'm thinking maybe the ground objects might be used to move these. I have heard of stairs moving up to planes in the sim, but I haven't seen it anywhere. But if these stair do work, can I adjust their path in order to have them activate with key command to split a plane and move the appropriate parts?

Any feedback on these thoughts are welcome Wink

I'm sure, through key-frame animation, that's possible.. but that would have to be built into the model.. You can't do it to an existing model unless you have the source files.

Presuming you do not have much hair left, I *think* it could be done, tied to an unused animation  (say #2 door/canopy)

You'd have the visibilitiy conditions of the ground support pieces triggered by the activation of the #2 door.  and then you'd create all the appropriate animations - ground cradles removing the fuselage, other ground cradles coming to support the engine and " remove" it....

don't even think of animating people and all the movements!!!

" Closing" the #2 exit, would then trigger all these animations in reverse.

Thanks mate
It will be long time before I would try it. It is just something I was wondering about. I am still learning and as I think of things, I like to find out if it is something that can been done, or not.
Now that I know it is possible, it opens up my options when I am ready to build a high quality plane.
LOL, by the time I am ready to build one like I would want to, I won't have to worry about frame rates (all pc's will be fadt enough to run it by then).
In fact, I would imagine it will be for FSX.

What Felix is saying is true, but I wouldn't go about using the Door #2 command, you might want it for something later on in the project.  Try utilizing the wingfold command, so that the animation couldn't accidentally be activated at any time other than on the ground.

Thanks Locke
That's something I had never thought about. Would kinda ruin a otherwise good flight, hehe.
