Fly UK Virtual Airways is pleased to inform the public that, in coordination with the Swiss division of IVAO, an event will be taking place on Tuesday 14th March 2006.
The event that has been organised is the “Geneva Fly-in” and is intended to promote the opening of Fly UK’s new European hub, LSGG. This event will give IVAO registered pilots the opportunity to fly from one of Fly UK’s three hubs: Glasgow, Leeds Bradford or London Gatwick. It has been planned that pilots will depart from the three hubs at different intervals to ensure that all en-route traffic arrive at Geneva (LSGG) at the same time. As Glasgow is Fly UK’s northern most hub, pilots are asked to begin departures from here at 1900z. Next is Leeds Bradford and pilots are asked to begin departures from here at 1915z. Lastly is the London Gatwick hub and due to it being Fly UK’s southern most hub, pilots are asked to begin departures from here at 1935z. As this event has been planned in coordination with the Swiss division of IVAO, and that liaison has taken place with the Great Britain division of IVAO, full block-clock ATC is expected.
As with every event at Fly UK, a large amount of time has gone into the planning stages of the event and the Fly UK events and online flying manager, Luke Bowes, has compiled a PDF file with all the details of the event and other important details that pilots need to fly the event. In addition to this, flight plan packs are available for download and these contain five different flight plan files types that already contain the flight routing data and can be used with well known payware aircraft such as the PMDG 737.
Luke Bowes was available to comment on this:
“At Fly UK, we take great pride in our events and online flying. We work closely with IVAO to give all of our pilots an opportunity to take part in a multiplayer environment and enjoy the flair that flying in this environment can give.
“Fly UK has a different online event on IVAO, each week, and we take our pilots to destinations all over the world. Similarly, Fly UK hosts regular fly-ins across the globe, and by working closely with the IVAO divisions, block-clock ATC can be arranged. All of these events combined help us to maintain a close working relationship with IVAO and ensure that all of our members get a suitable online flying experience.”
“By working in coordination with the Fly UK training department, we can ensure that all of our pilots are fully briefed with online flying procedures on IVAO; and as part of our commitment as a certified IVAO virtual airline, our web site displays an online flight tracker which shows real time information about our pilots flying on IVAO.”
Fly UK anticipates that many of its pilots and other IVAO registered pilots will take part in this event and hopes that they enjoy the Geneva Fly-in.
