I just soloed today.  Just my luck that the traffic pattern exploded with traffic after my instructor closed the door and walked away.  I had to go around 3 times because of 2 citations, 2 182's, a diamond (cut me off twice), and a bellanca scout.  It was crazy and unfortunate that I didn't have alot of time to enjoy it because of all the traffic.

8)My last landing was something to be proud of 8)

Congrats man!

The first time I soloed the pattern was empty-the second time I soloed I nearly had an emergency on my hands when I rolled out on final on top of another aircraft (they called final on the CTAF, I looked ahead of me, didn't see them)

Good luck with the rest of your training Wink

Nervous?  I had no time for nervous.  I was too focused with the task at hand.

I had plenty of time to be nervous, but I wasn't... I mean literally I had almost no anxiety about doing it at all.  It seems we're the only two people on the planet (that I know of) Wink

I was confused briefly (pattern changed direction while I was on downwind), and very wary throughout, but not anxious. I'd just done a few circuits with the instructor, so it was not a nail-biter.

Yeah, when it actually happended, I wasn't nervous at all, my instructor hopped out after a few circuits and luckily for me, the pattern was empty so I got free reign of the airport while I tried to bring the airplane back in one piece. Grin Wink

That's the way it was for me-I'm a very logical, analytical thinker, and in my mind it was like "I've done this a million times, a monkey could fly the pattern, (only a pilot can make decisions) so what's there to worry about?  Not even anyone in the air!"

I suppose what I meant was not even anxiety but like no knee-knocking, no suddenly noticing the instructor wasn't there, no special feeling, (didn't get that until first solo x-country) it was just like flying with Matti there except he stopped asking me if I had called base and the plane flew like a fighter jet Grin

Congrats!

Theres never really much to worry about on someone's first solo.  Its the same circuit that the instructor taught over and over again.  Though I guess its different for everyone.  But hey, every pilot has to go on their own sometime, so you just have to accept it instead of being nervous.

Though everyone has to be a bit anxious before their instructor steps out, because as a pilot... student even, you accept the full responsibility of your aircraft.  If your nervous, you might not be ready, but if your not anxious, you don't learn.

Cheers,
RB
