here´s something i learned today in college.... i thought i´d share it with you guys, in case anyone hasn´t found this out yet

there´s a drop down menu on the main gmax toolbar that will change the orientation of the transform gizmo so you can rotate a part in a composite axis, rather than the absolute XYZs

this box should read VIEW, or WORLD on the toolbar... drop it down and you´ll see all the options you have... change it to LOCAL and the transform gizmo will align with the pivot point of your part. you can now rotate a part around it´s own axis Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

i´ve been wanting to find this out for a LOOOONG time now... i finally got it... i hope this hepls someone else too

c ya

heck - even *I* knew that!  (and me knowing something in gmax is incredible in itself!)

That's one of those "obvious" tidbits in modelling that's makes a lot of stuff  easier..

Not really...   it's actually easier for me to TELL people what to do with gmax than actually do.

By always making sure the part they are rotating moves around the XYZ set of axes.  Can do that by just being very careful what you are doing in the beginning.
