Heat blur has always been an option for FS. Just model some cones in Gmax or FSDS with transparent textures. That's it. It's a no-brainer really.

Nobody needs luck to learn anything about 3D modeling. Tutorials from various websites are available. Most of which are very useful. I can point out a series of websites that have great tutorials.

Besides, Modeling is the easy part. It's getting the visual models to work in FS that's hard [even with FSDS].

I don't think that just a semi-transparent texture would do the trick.
Take a look at Lock-On, the heat blur is really a blur, the picture you see through it is blurred.
As a consequence, it would be impossible to model such an effect for FS9.

... or use a freeware heat effect package like EES, already available here ...

Not a true heat blur, but it's about the closest you can reasonably get using effects files.

heat blur is a must..Lock On:Modern Air Combat have it...and surely Microsoft is bigger company than Eagle Dynamic (so they have no problem to secure the technology)

Heat blur is the one thing that made LOMAC buggy for me. I turned it off and it ran fine.

Yes, well when quad SLi becomes within everyones budget I'm sure that they will have no problem running anything maxed. Until then, its hard to get this forum to switch out all their old FX5500's and 9600 cards for the newer stuff.

Cheers
