Has anyone heard of this? It looks interesting but I dont want to spend the money if it turns out to be a crappy update. The graphics dont look all that great either.

Hello, how are you doing today? What's your hobby? What's your favorite sport?

Anyways, this should be in the Payware forums.

I never bought Mega Scenery, so I can't comment on that. However, it's always good to get opinions from people who did buy them.

I don't use it myself, but as an alternative I've seen some really praising reviews and screenshots of the Ultimate Terrain series of products.  They currently have 3 volumes: US, Canada and Alaska.  You might wanna check them out.  Pity they don't have any other regions covered at the moment for us non-US flyers, but like everything else from that side of the pond I guess it'll come out later - the word on the net is later this year Smiley

Cheers.

Hussein.

Mega Scenery............. Makes sim take a year to load, looks really S**** when your close to the boarder of defualt and mega....... its not even worth to get in the first place, Wasted good money on PNW and threw it away (litterally tossed it out) looks good, only if entire game matched it, and even then it looks pretty crappy! Cheers, Gunny

I never liked photosceenery. Looks good in the screenies, but not the game. The problem is you get used to the looks, then you go out of the bounds of the thing and it starts looking like absolute crap. My other problem is that it looks as if someone just stuck a pic into my game, and really makes the sim look fake. If you want some good sceenery look at the Flight Zone 1. http://www.flightscenery.com/flightzone01/ Its now my defult area to fly in, and is well worth the cash. Only complaint is the grass around the runways, but you get over it.

Cheers

Looks quite realistic, but in some places photo-scenery can make the landscape look like a 3D map. Wink

For god knows what reason, I personally hate Photographic scenery...it doesn't blend in with the default FS landscape and at times, get's to my nerves with those flat trees and flat car's on the roads.... Undecided

Aye, how does that MegaScenery US run?

Would it work well for a system consisting of:
- Radeon 9600
- 512mb RAM
- P4 2.0 Ghz
- 40G HD (tiny, I know)

Eh?

might want more hard drive, I believe PNW was like 3-5 gigs and installed like 10 gigs....... Your specs other than that are fine, but well lets say Buy something like Ultimate terrain, BEV etc, Cheers, Gunny

Presuming you like photo scenery, you get a good coverage are with Megascenery but it may not be compatable with some of your other scenery, check that out first. The georender scenery for example doesn't work very well with the Pacific North West package.

Megascenery does take an amazingly large segment of HD space, so either have a big drive or a seperate one to load it.

Megascenery has autogen and nice night lighting.

If you uncheck extended textures, load times are very good (as with any photo scenery)  and blurries will lessen. I normally fly with a sight distance of no more than 30 miles, so with the above unchecked I notice no degradation of textures.

Megascenery is not as detailed as other photoscenery add-ons. Horizon Simulations make some very nice VFR photscenery with greater detail, but they don't have autogen aside from the city buildings.

Hope this has helped in some way Wink

Photographic scenery is just that, a flat photograph laid over the scenery mesh....
Fine if you constantly fly above 5000 feet AGL in a commercial jet, but when you get near to the ground, or land, EVERYTHING is FLAT...like a FLAT photograph..!!!
No good for low-level, tree-skimming pilots..!
I bought it years ago and very quickly abandoned it...
...total waste of money for me as a low-level, VFR pilot, no trees or buildings, etc,...!

Much better to download good freeware add-on scenery for the areas you normally fly... Grin...!

Cheers all...!
