Hello all, this is my first post.
I have a problem that, after searching the forums, it would seem is uncommon. First, I have a P4 3Ghz, 512MB, and an older GeForce FX 5200 card. The game installed without problem, the game is running with a detail level of 4, and I fully set up the Saitek profile (including the rotarys in the throttle, which seem to have befuddled others - I have a full profile, including a .bmp of the setup for quick reference - email me if ya want it) The stick seems - for the grand majority of the time I am flying - to work perfectly. Here's the problem: Occasionally, when I operate the buttons on the stick or the rotarys or etc., and if it is in conjunction with another operation (such as trimming during a turn) the computer crashed to blue screen with the following message:
PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
the device / driver / thingy that seems to be triggering it is something called SAINTBUS.SYS.
Now, earlier while surfing the forums I noted that u could simply not bother using the Saitek software; after farting about with the stock windows calibration program and going into CFS3, I must profess I cannot get the stick to work as it did with the Saitek software (especially the rotarys). Does anyone out there know if the Saitek software may be the cause of my crashes, and can be circumvented in some way?
Also, about a year ago, my neibourhood was hit by a power blackout that, very strangely, knocked out ALL of the USB hookups on the computer (how very selective) and I have since installed USB ports in the Riser (is that correct?) slots - I had a pro do the hookups, seeing as the old USB's still show up in the computer hardware profiles. So, my second question: Could this crash be caused by some sort of conflict with the messed up USB bus? I am guessing that SAINTBUS.SYS has something very much to do with this, and now I winder if I need to fetch a whole new MB and such? Any and all help is so greatly appreciated! And thanks for your time, I appologize for the long post Cheesy

with a power outage like that, it could have fried something, but if mostly everything works I doubt it, I lost a Dial up modem, best bet is to take the game and the Stick to a friends install and try to use if it works, well then you know its your comp! Cheers, Gunny

Thx Gunny that is good advice. The system has no problems with my USB bluetooth, wireless keyboard and mouse so I'm guessing the USB's as installed are not the problem...
After a couple hours of it, I have uninstalled all of the Saitek software and then set up the stick solely within CFS3, and it worked very well (nuts to my earlier comment of it not going so well), but I noted something odd. Within the CFS controls config, I found I could set the "Elevator Trim Axis" to the X45's rotary knob - and boy, did it work - a bit too well, as it is VERY touchy. No prob I thought and went to set the sensitivities. After setting them, I flew and this time the trim was gone completely (not working/responding) and upon going back into the controls config, found that while the axis still existed within the "Sensitivities" tab, it had disappeared from the controls list! I experimented, and found that no other control axis vanished except the elevator trim axis. If, however, I do not "peek" at the sensitivites tab, the elevator trim axis REMAINS in the controls list (Weird..) and it continues to work, but waaay too sensitive to be of real use.
I guess this is a bug? Anyways, the game hasn't crashed once since, so I believe it was in fact the software. Agh I'm bad at this.
Anyone know of which .XML file to manually edit (and how) for the axis sensitivities?
