Ooooon tonight's Top Gear, we dig up the very first episode from 1989!  - Really shows the contrast between the old and new formats.

Make a cuppa, sit back & enjoy, here's a quick run down on the articles:

European Executive Saloon Car Shootout Article
A really interesting look at the ALFA 164 Lusso auto (£22k), SAAB CDE auto (£29k) & LANCIA Thema SE Turbo (£20k).
Points to note, how 1980's executive spec means 'stuff as many buttons on the dash as possible'.

@08:45
Motorway Jam Detector Article
A really interesting look at the future.
Points to note, it just bleeps. And only works on the M25.

@10:35
Super Unleaded Article
A really interesting look at the impact of Super Unleaded on Britains motorists.
Points to note, ugly people, old people, confused people, oh & 40.8 PENCE PER LITRE !!!

@17:00
Classic Car Auction Article
A really interesting look at a classic car auction hosted by... Jeremy Clarkson.
Points to note, Jeremy Clarkson's hair, Jeremy Clarkson's presenting skills (still better than Jason 'i ate all the pies' Dawe) & Jeremy Clarkson actually once had clothing style!

@22:10
Siera Group A Touring Car Article
A really interesting look at a car Tiff Needel managed to win a race with.
Points to note, TIFF NEEDLE DRIVING THE WHEELS OFF A 500BHP SIERA TOURING CAR AROUND BRANDS HATCH!
GOOO ON MY SON!!!

And on that bomb shell ladies & gentleman, goodnight... /queue xylophone!/

Note:
Viewers may be disapointed to find that this episode does not contain, Hammond, the Veyron, the audience, a star in a reasonably priced car, Von Stiggles, studio chatter or the power board. Thank you for watching.

Posting drivel here since Jan 31st, 2002. - That long!

Nice stuff there.

Does anyone know where we can get a look at the first one of the current format with May and Hammond. It would be nice to see how they started off.
