Assuming you have master on fuel set up etc
Throttle to Idle (move it up a bit from off)
JFS to 2
RPM gauge to 20%.
Throttle to 50%
Press Idle Detent
...
Throttle to 70%
RPM gauge to 25%+ & climbing
Throttle to Idle
RPM gauge to 70%
finish start-up

The sequence you listed is not right.

Idle detent gets clicked after JFS2-RPM/20%-Throttle/50%-Press Idle Detent.

As soon as you hit JFS2 the engine should start to wind up. Be sure you are opening it enough on the initial idle setting.

Just one click it.

Are you sure that:

Master Power 2-clicks
Master Fuel 1-click
Engine Fuel Feed/Normal 1-click
Air Source/Normal 1-click

are all set BEFORE you make the initial throttle to Idle move?

try pushing throttle up to 50-60% of travel for idle setting & see what happens.

Its worth moving the throttle through its entire throw a couple times before starting the whole procedure to ensure the analogue axes are "kicked in" and being read by the program too.

There is more to life then pressing "E"  Grin

Falcon 4 is my favorite sim & IMHO the best flight sim available for a home computer.

...

Back in the bad old days, also known as the golden era of flight sims, the WildBunch had about 400 active pilots.

BTW checked out ramp start with 1.05 & it was OK.

Hi avhistory hope you read this i managed to actually start the engine for the 1st time tonight yipppeeeeeee BUT? went to put the little one to bed came back and tried to start again no success the jfs switch doesnt budge again. First i thought its cos ive got caps lock on but turned it off and still carnt start up again. should have said ive recently aquired a x45 joystick and throttle and am wondering if this is the problem even when i put it in keystroke mode somethings definaetly messing it up+ i reinstalled falcon af put the latest patch on no problem the first time the f16 started but it was after that.

Thats good because you know the game is working OK

I am not familiar with your stick combo so really can't comment. try looking up the key command for JFS2 & use that to see what happens.

Personally I use the mouse clicks for most of my switchology but have some basic stuff, gear - airbrakes etc mapped into my stick.
