Hello

I Am trying to make a new effect (Fire) for flight sim 2004.
When i apply the .Bmp texture thru the .fx file,
it wont show the picture in flight sim it shows squares i have read that the background colour should be black i made the background black but it still shows as squares in flight sim what do i have to do to make the fireball show instead of squares?

Also i heard somethig about alpha channel doing this but i dont know what program to use and how to do it. Could someone please help i have been waiting ages for a reply.

Hi
Have you download the effects sdk from microsofts fs9 site?
http://www.microsoft.com/games/flightsimulator/fs2004_downloads_sdk.asp
Not only will explain how to edit and map effects to bmps,it also has an example bush fire effect so its a win win situation Smiley

effects sdk from the microsoft website. It help's with the

parimeters and stuff but it dosent really help with doing the textures.

Is there any other Tutorials?

Soz Smiley
Ya can use Martin Wright dxtbmp app to convert the bmp file to a format fs9 likes. Its been a while since playing with effects but Im pretty sure if ya save as dxt1 with alpha for alpha channel bmp and  extended 256 for non alpha it should work.To be sure open one of the default effects textures in DXTbmp it will tell you what format is.
As for a tut nope,Maybe try doing a search here in the message areas somebody musta done a mini tut Smiley
