I've always loved the Dodge Challenger! But I couldn't afford the fuel, let alone the car or the insurance costs on this monster.

Dodge Challenger
The Challenger was popular in America’s muscle car era of the late 1960's and 1970's. The new, rear-wheel-drive Challenger concept drew its inspiration especially from the original Challenger that debuted in 1970. It is the model most sought after by collectors.

The characteristic wide-mouth grille is there. So are the rectangular tailpipes and pistol-grip shifter. Even the Challenger’s black racing stripes on the hood are on the new concept. But instead of being done with paint, the stripes on the concept car are exposed carbon fiber.

The four-passenger Challenger concept also has six manual speeds, rather than the four speeds of the original car. The single, large rear taillight is illuminated by diffuse neon in the concept, and tires and wheels are 20-inchers. The front and rear track are 64 and 65 inches, respectively, which is wider than that of the 1970 Challenger. And the side glass is narrower than it was on the original Challenger.

The Challenger concept is powered by Chrysler’s 425-horsepower 6.1-liter HEMI V8. Chrysler officials said the car should go from 0-to-60 miles an hour in 4.5 seconds, which is on par with many sports cars, and top speed is 174 mph.

For some reason the site has the third picture

I'm afraid the only "retro" muscle car I like is the 05 Mustang.

Nice car, bad color. Good to see them finally mate the 6.1 hemi to a six speed standard tranny.

From what I have read, that car might not be put into production with a 6-speed.  I hope it is, but I read an article that talked about it not having one when it is finally into production.

Also, apparently the body hasn't been aerodynamically tested yet-so they will likely have to make some changes to the appearence (hopefully not too much).

Although I can't "offically" like Challengers all that much (one of my friends has a 1970 Challenger and I have a 1969 Camaro-so we kind of have a small friendly rivalry).  I do like the car.   Roll Eyes Grin
