A very interesting list! I was begining to wonder about PMDG?
It will be interesting in the coming days to see what others have to say about last year, and what 2006 will bring.
Thanks Dave.

That airaine aircraft didn't look good at all IMHO..you'd think they would pick the feelthere 737 (unless this was done before the feelthere aircraft was released).

HAHA, thast has to be the dumbest joke ever.
Where the hell is the ERJ 145 from Feelthere?
I'm pretty positive it was released in 2005.

My opinion on best freeware aircraft differs also. I am pretty certain that Dave Matlby's re=worked with VC's Trident and 1-11 were released in 2005 as well. As a matter of fact, even though the Project Fokker model is good, it falls short of the systems implentation found in the updated DM 1-11. I also think Flight 1's Super 80 deserves to be on the best airliner list in place of the Arian 737. In fact, in any year when Flight 1 or PMDG release anything it's a likely bet to be on a best of list.

I have the Carenado C182 RG. It's awesome. The addon is based on a real live model(1978 plane then abouts) You can see the reflections of the camera and the fingers holding it on the gauges haha. There was a real life aviation magazine article released on a workign model as well. I've been playing it the most in the last 6 months, I dunno, probably because I'm still flying GA craft in FSPassengers trying to build up cash!
Ultimate terrain and Flight Environment are superb enhancements too. Must haves like Active Camera imo.

It's hard to compare the Level D with the PMDG 744. 2 different aircraft, 2 different power plant configs. One much heavier than the other. If a comparison is to be done it would have to come down to systems implementation. Which add-on has the most working and accurate cockpit systems? If they line up fairly evenly on that level then it comes down to performance. Which add-on requires less PC to run at a comfortable rate without sacrificing any of your normal display settings. My rub against the Level D is the 2D panel. They ported over the "artistic liberty" standby gauges missing version from the original 767 PIC. I always flew that one with the standby gauges open and resized to fit in where they should be. I guess I'm picky but I want a panel in FS to look exactly as it should from the left seat of the real aircraft. No, I would rather have the efis on a pop-up and keep the standby gauges where they should be in a 2D 767 panel. Just my preference. I also think they should have made a 757 model that could have used the same panel with modifications. There are a lot more realistic routes that can fit in with a working man's schedule to fly a 757 than for a long range bird like the 767.

I like the outside of the Dreamfleet Baron, but I can't get the stupid engines to run! I tried everything manually but no luck.

As much time as I have with Beech 1900C's, I really didn;t care too much for PMDG's 1900C. The stuff they did was great, but it seemed cobbled together. The flight dynamics were very sluggish. They did great on a lot of things, but I feel the overall score would be a 7 if I was grading it. I shouldn't have to change my configurations to fly that plane, I want the control surfaces to react as they should (ie, nose up when elevator at full deflection?).
One other thing that bugged me a bunch. All the paint schemes included exhaust trails on top of the wings. That is good an all, but they are not counter-rotating propellers. Why are the exhaust trails on the outboard of both naccelles? If you look at a real 1900C, you'll see the exhaust trails are almost EXCLUSIVELY on the right side of the engine naceelles. Both of them. The left side is actually pretty darn clean, while the right side is filthy. Little things like that make it grade lower also.
The rest of the eye candy and funtionality are great and all, but flying the aircraft was not fun for me. It didn;t feel like flying the airplane, not like FSD's Panther Navajo does.
