Just installed AFCAD for 2004 but my changes do not show up. All the usual things checked, bgl is saving in right directory, paths correct etc..........I have checked all the obvious things........any ideas?

Thanks

No...re started the sim.......changes do not show.
Also, if I reopen the airport in AFCAD it only shows the default airport listed, not the modified airport........

Is the  the 'af2_xxxx.bgl'  file  saved to the 'scenery' sub-folder within a registered scenery area, (i.e.-added to the scenery library)?

Hi Dave

Well since the last post I have been playing around. From the AFCAD help I assumed you just dumped the revised .bgl in /add on scenery and FS would find it, I have since tried putting the revised .bgl in it's own folder and adding it to the scenery within FS9 and it seems to work fine. If that is the right way to do it thats fine although the help file did not make that clear..........well not to me anyway.... Roll Eyes

That depends on where you dump it within 'addon scenery'.

...\Addon Scenery\AF2_xxxx.bgl-------wont work
...\Addon Scenery\scenery\AF2_xxxx.bgl----FS should find it on next boot as 'Addon Scenery' is registered.

Basic organization of scenery files:

|__My Scenery <---registered in the Scenery Library. Name and location are your choice,
             |_________scenery <----any .bgl files go here
             |_________texture <----bitmaps if any go here

Up until now, I thought (S)aving an edited AF2 files was pretty straight-foward -- apparently it's not.

"10. Saving an Airport
Any changes you make to an airport are initially done only in memory. As long as you don't do a ‘Save’, none of the changes you make will affect Flight Simulator. If you want to experiment first before you do any serious work, then just don’t save the airport you are working on.

When you do want to save changes to the airport then click Save or Save As. A Save As window will open with a default file name assigned such as AFC_KORD.bgl, and the destination folder will default to the FS9 Addon Scenery folder. You would normally just click OK to accept the default folder and file name unless you have a specific need to change them. Note that unlike AFCAD 1, AFCAD 2 does not alter any stock FS9 files so there is no need to backup anything. If you accidentally save an airport you didn't intend to then all you have to do is delete the .bgl file that was created by AFCAD for that airport."

Wiji..........Thank you for your reply.

I did in fact read the AFCAD help file in detail before posting my problem........not wishing to waste any'ones time with trivial problems, however, as you posted from the help file......................"and the destination folder will default to the FS9 Addon Scenery folder. You would normally just click OK to accept "..................The \Addon scenery \folder is not the correct address.......it should read "Addon Scenery\scenery......or am I wrong?

Addon Scenery\scenery is correct as the default. The files
will be seen and work just fine in any scenery sub-folder
in the Addon Scenery directory;

   Addon Scenery
Your Folder      <---- must be activated
             scenery

When placed in the default location you don't have to do
anything additional. If in a different subfolder, that subfolder
would have to be activated in the scenery setup screen.
