Greetings to you all.
I am a complete newbie but am slowly making my way through getting my own airport / seaplane base together via AFCAD and scenery generators to be determined.

Anyway, along with the many questions I have / will have later, I was wondering if anyone had come across this problem.
I have some scheduled flights to my base with a PBY Catalina and other Amphibs (additions to AI traffic). When they take off and land all is well, but when they are parked between flights,  they are sitting above the water with gear extended. That is, the wheels are on the water as if it was tarmac. Any suggestions?? Perhaps using a completely static model is the only way? Any information would be greatyl helpful!!
Thanks,

Bluehawk

Make sure that when you are specifying the "ground texture" or whatever in AFCAD that it is set to a waterway instead of tarmac of some kind.  That's probably the issue, but don't quote me.  The last time I used AFCAD (or any scenery creator for that matter) was nearly two years ago.

Thanks,
I will check, but I'm pretty sure this is not the case. I say this because the ramp area that the PBY is on is a man-made lake (made in afcad; not existing in fs9 originally), and when I fly myself and land / taxi around said ramp amphibs float as they are supposed to.... hmmmmmm..... Tongue
Perhaps it is something in the trafffic files or the fact that the waterways at my base are made in afcad, and are not part of FS9..
Thanks for the advice, I'll keep trying to perfect it!

"is on is a man-made lake (made in afcad; not existing in fs9 originally),"

This may be part of the problem. May I suggest ironing out the AI behavior bugs using FS9 default sceneries (waterways) to which you've added AF2 file(s).

I know these floatplane bases with AI traffic are tricky to get working in FS9. I've been able to create some of my own but Holger Sandmann and Vern Opperman have consistent salutary results with their FS9 AI addon floatplane traffic and bases.

Yes, I will take your advice!!! It seems that afcad has some grey areas when it comes to interface with FS9. Thank you so much for the suggestion,  I will see what I can get hold of and let you know the results...

Slowly but surely I am getting through it. I've completely updated the terrain mesh, and ground polygons, and I am currently working on traffic issues and new objects. Soon after that I'll start heading into the real unknown.... i.e. Gmax animated models (maybe some maintenance crews, baggage carts, people waving... blah balh blah). When it's all together I will most definitely post it for all. Still havn't found a way to have amphib traffic float on hulls or floats rather than the wheels as listed in this post earlier, but I'll find it even if I have to learn new code Cry
Thanks for asking how things are going..
Hope to have things together fairly soon.
Cheers,

Ref amphib ai: you might want to take a look at a short
'tutorial', by Holger Sandmann, discussing FS2004 ai float behavioir.

ai_float.zip- at SimV or AVsim.
