Serious Question regarding Ads (Read 552 times)

Okay, It seems like alot of people are complaining that the popups (really only one that comes up regardless of blockers) on the main site are giving computers spyware.  A few people are complaining on sim outhouse, one designer has now put simv on the list of sites not to upload to (it pisses me off because now we are being reduced to fsplanet status Angry)

So serious question: where is this pop up coming from, and is there anyway to get rid of it and just leave the banner ads.

I may be completely wrong, but I believe Pete explained in the past that when he sells advertising space on this site, the people he sells to then turn around and sell it to someone else. So Pete doesn't have much control over who advertises for what here. That's probably why you see that banner ad asking if pot should be legalized. I don't think our admin would choose to put that up himself.

... errmm... only a couple of kids. We get around 500K unique users/month. We still get that amount. No one is boycotting us - except maybe a couple of kids I'd nearly pay to be kept away from here .............   Grin
