Seem to be quite a few classics lurking around near the gas station next to the job site I've been at... I think they're all for sale; haven't asked. Not good with the years; feel free to ID them.
Ragtop Corvettes- I love the black one; looks like the first-year model.
And this nifty T-bird... not my favorite year, but I like it.

Great shots Rotty - I love those old Yank classics.
Is that a Jag/Daimler bonnet I spy in the second pic??
Cheers,

Those Corvettes are very nice looking. I'm personally not a Corvette expert, but I can tell you that the black 'vette is either a 1956 or 1957 (those are almost identical-the motor is the only way I know to tell them apart). If it is a V8 car, the 1956 would have a 256ci V8 engine and the 1957 would have a 283ci V8 engine.
The red one is newer, it is a 1958-1960 model (again, I really can't tell the exact year).
Nice photos!

Thanx... am I correct in assuming that 1956 was the first year for the 'vette?

From a site ..........
Quote:
The first Corvette was built on June 30, 1953 at the Flint, Michigan assembly plant. These Corvettes were constructed in an area at the back of Chevy's customer delivery garage on Van Slyke Ave. They are not only the first, but also the rarest Vettes.
300 cars were produced and about 200 are still in the hands of collectors. The first two cars are missing. By early 1954, Chev said that 315 Corvettes had been built and that production had moved to the assembly plant in St. Louis, Missouri. They predicted that 1000 Corvettes per month would be built in St. Louis by June 1954 and that 10,000 per year could be built and sold
.........and what it looked like !
