Hopefully this will only be the first race in an 8 race season. If all goes well and everyone enjoys themselves, I'll plan the next one. The point system for finishing is:

1st place: 25 points
2nd place: 15 points
3rd place : 10 points
4th place : 5 points
5th place: you serve the burgers....

The Rules

1) NO Slewing or Map Moving!

2) If you crash at any time during the race, you can complete the course, but are not eligible for points.

3) Crash detection Off, Weather Off, Time set to 12:00 noon in Summer

4)Realism Settings: For the first race we'll set to whatever you want. I appreciate all the help in working out the parameters, let's fine tune as the racing season progresses!

Crash detection on or off??

Real world weather so that we all have the same weather??

No point in racing against a headwind if everybody else has got a tailwind.

Cheers,

No weather would be the best bet. Unfortunately I won't be around for the first race, but when I show up for the others, I don't really want to be faced with cumulous clouds in my face, giving me 4fps!

At least if everyone has clear skys, theres no wind, clouds, or anything of the like.

...and aircraft "Realism", in the aircraft options...?

...when you crash, or collide with the scenery, do you destroy your plane, and die...?

I dont think I will make it.  I have a 'computer ban' right now because Im failing chemistry (not entirely my fault) but sadly, this means no fs.

You have hit on the main problem with using someone else's server ....... the parameters are different for everyone.  Have a dedicated server for your race and everyone can be sent the same weather parameters. Realism is down to the honesty of the participant. I would suggest that for later races that crash detection is on....... as is aircraft stress causing damage. I would also suggest that everyone uses fsautosave you won't reset to the beginning of the flight after a crash but at least there will be an automatic penalty if you do crash. Take out fsautosave and then the penalty of crashing is the same as in the real world ....... almost.

Eno, I really appreciate your advice, and we definately will use your server and parameter suggestions for the next race. I wanted to keep things as simple and familiar to everyone as possible this time. I'd appreciate working closer with you on organizing race two of the season if you'd have the time. Thanks again and i'll pm you your judges positions this aft. Clip  Smiley

Just out of curiosity - are we all taking off at the same time or are we leaving at staggered intervals?

I suppose with crash detection off, it dosen't amtter does it?

Cheers,

TSC.

...which means, that with good piloting skills, the fastest aeroplane is guaranteed to win the race every time...Wink.....!

To be fair, you need a handicap, staggered start, for the next race... 8)...!
...trust me... Grin...!

Cheers all...!

Paul.... 8)...!

P.S. ...again, what will be the time in GMT, for an on-looker.....Grin...?
